Sports News – NBA news: Kris Humphries to marry Kim Kardashian

NBA news: Kris Humphries to marry Kim Kardashian

The Kardashian family has bagged another NBA star. Khloe is already shacked up with Lamar Odom; now Kim is tying the knot with Kris Humphries. The New Jersey Nets forward, who finished fifth in the NBA in rebounding this season, proposed to her last week after six months of dating.

NHL news: Islanders extend Kyle Okposo

The New York Islanders have locked up one of their key prospects for the next five years. Kyle Okposo, their first pick in the 2006 draft, has an extension reportedly worth $14 million. He played only 38 games last season after injuring his shoulder in training camp; he had five goals and 15 assists. The year before, Okposo tallied 19 goals and 51 points.

MLB news: Buster Posey breaks leg?  Mets to sell share of team to Einhorn; Wilson Valdez gets a pitching win

San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey was scheduled for an MRI after injuring his ankle during last night’s loss to the Florida Marlins. Florida’s Scott Cousins barrelled into him while scoring the game-winning run. Posey’s foot stuck in the dirty and he twisted awkwardly as he fell.

BREAKING NEWS: whispers are now suggesting Posey has a broken leg and torn ligaments. It’s devastating news for the Giants and the 2010 National League Rookie of the Year.

The New York Mets may finally have some financial relief; they agreed this week to sell less than 49 per cent of the team to David Einhorn for roughly $200 million. Einhorn, the president of Greenlight Capital Inc., won’t receive a stake in the TV network SNY, which is owned by the Mets.

Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Wilson Valdez became the first position player to record a victory in more than 10 years. He entered to toss a scoreless 19th inning after the Phillies had exhausted their bullpen. Valdez also became the first position player to start on the field and win as a pitcher in 90 years. The last guy to do it was Mr. Babe Ruth in 1921.

NFL news: Tiki Barber compares himself to Anne Frank; Ochocinco to take up snake wrangling

Tiki Barber isn’t making many friends as he attempts an NFL comeback at age 36. This week, he compared himself to Anne Frank. Yes, that Anne Frank. Explaining how he and his girlfriend lived in his agent Mark Lepselter’s attic after walking away from his then-pregnant wife, Barber said:

“Lep’s Jewish. And it was like a reverse Anne Frank thing.” As in the Anne Frank who hid from the Nazis during WWII and died in a concentration camp.

Chad Ochocinco’s latest activity during the lockout? Out with the bull riding, in with the snake wrangling. After getting the idea from Bengals owner Mike Brown, Ochocinco has “partnered with Snake Jungle to go out and become the first black snake wrangler.”
