Enjoy!

It was nice to see Louis Oosthuizen win the British Open but, let’s face it, Sunday’s landslide victory was a snoozer for viewers. Let’s try and find some interesting news to wake us up.

MLB news: Prince Fielder on the trading block?

Prince Fielder on the trading block?

If the Brewers wanted Madison Bumgarner or Jonathan Sanchez for Corey Hart, what on Earth will be the asking price for star slugger Prince Fielder? Sure, the son of Big Daddy started 2010 slowly, but he’s slowly smashing his way back to a 40-homer pace. Odds are, he’ll reach 200 career long balls well before his 27th birthday.

Since his contract with Milwaukee ends after 2011, the Brew Crew may entertain trade offers for the big man as soon as this month. Fielder is usually compared to Mark Teixeira and Ryan Howard, both of whom recently signed massive deals, so Milwaukee likely can’t afford to keep him. Don’t be surprised if the White Sox, Giants, Angels and maybe even the Red Sox try making offers. But are they willing to surrender the elite pitching prospects Milwaukee will surely (and deservedly) demand?

As the trade deadline approaches, we should also keep an eye on Hart’s status, not to mention other names around the league like Dan Uggla, Brett Myers, Adam Dunn, Ty Wigginton and Ted Lilly.

NFL news: Reggie Wayne to hold out? NFL suspends Johnny Jolly for season

Is Reggie Wayne about to join the holdout party? The four-time Pro Bowler and stalwart Colts wideout is reportedly unhappy with his six-year, $39-million deal that carries him through next season. The buzz is that Wayne likely won’t hold out long enough to miss the start of the regular season. He already sat out voluntary workouts and a mandatory minicamp but the Colts will probably work hard to keep him happy. He hasn’t missed a game since his rookie season.

The Green Bay Packers’ formidable defense just took a hit for 2010. The NFL has suspended defensive end Johnny Jolly without pay for the upcoming season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. The suspension stems from a 2008 arrest during which police found 200-plus grams of codeine on him.

NBA news: Brad Miller to Rockets; no Vegas move for Pistons

With the big fish getting snapped up rather quickly in NBA free agency, it’s time for teams to turn their attention to the role players who can still make an impact. Yao Ming is expected to return fully healthy for the Houston Rockets in 2010-11, but they’ve insured their big man anyway. Houston signed Brad Miller to a three-year, $15-million deal over the weekend. He averaged 8.8 points and 4.9 boards with Chicago last year.

The once-proud Detroit Pistons are for sale and some wild rumors about a possible move have surfaced as a result. One report had them moving to. But the team insists it will find a Detroit-committed ownership group to take the Pistons.

But that doesn’t mean we won’t eventually see the NBA in Sin City. The Las Vegas sun claimed last week that an unknown NBA team was already “under contract” to move should Las Vegas build a new arena.
