This year`s Group of Death includes three quality sides. Brazil is a team that everyone will be watching but perhaps there will be more intrigue in the battle for second place in the Group.
Group G could easily turn out to be one of the more fascinating stories at the upcoming World Cup tournament.

Brazil: (FIFA Ranking: 1)
Brazil – Odds To Win World Cup: +450
How good is Brazil you ask? They were able to leave Ronaldinho off the squad this year because of the depth and talent of their side. Their defense is elite, their forwards are dynamic and their keeper Julio Caesar is among the world’s best. Any team would love to have Lucio on defense and Kaka and Robinho up front. Brazil is stacked this year.
Brazil World Cup Predictions:
A Group win is almost certain. It is the Group of Death however and any hiccup during the Group stage could mean a date with Spain in the Round of 16. Don’t count on a slip-up though and believe that you will see Brazil in the World Cup Final.

Portugal: (FIFA Ranking: 3)
Portugal – Odds To Win World Cup: +2500
Portugal cannot be happy to be in this Group but they have nobody to blame but themselves. Qualifying was not great and only a playoff win against Bosnia-Herzegovina got them to this point. With names like Pepe, Simao, Nani and of course Cristiano Ronaldo, hopes are high for Portugal despite some suspect form.
Portugal World Cup Predictions:
Portugal has the potential to be the biggest name out in the Group stage of the World Cup. Cristiano Ronaldo cannot do it all as he sometimes he has a tendency to think. Second place is in their reach but third in the Group is more likely in the Group of death.

Ivory Coast: (FIFA Ranking: 27)
Ivory Coast – Odds To Win World Cup: +2500
The Ivory Coast sailed through qualifying and were handed an extreme challenge with their Group draw. Coach Sven-Goran Erikssson has a lot to prove after his disastrous time with Team Mexico and will be looking to put his stamp on yet another World Cup. Didier Drogba may just be enough for the Ivory Coast to get through to the Round of 16 but the presence of Salamon Kalou. Didier Zokora and Yaya Toure support the notion of the Ivory Coast moving on.
Ivory Coast World Cup Predictions:
June 15th is a date to have circled on your calendar. It is when Portugal meets the Ivory Coast. I pick the Ivory Coast to prevail in that one and to ultimately finish 2nd in the Group. Moving past the Round of 16 is highly unlikely however.
——————————————————
North Korea: (FIFA Ranking: 106)
North Korea – Odds To Win World Cup: +75000
In the Group of Death, somebody has to die miserably and in this case it will be North Korea. They do not have close to enough talent to compete with the other three teams. If they can just look like they belong in the tournament, it will be job well done!
North Korea World Cup Predictions:
North Korea is a sacrificial lamb in this group. A draw would be a miracle but don`t count on it. North Korea goes home with no points but with some good experience.

Conclusion:
Group G promises to be one of the more interesting ones to watch. Not only does it contain a favorite to win it all, but it has two nations that will battle hard for second place and for the right to move on. All of these teams (except for North Korea) play an exciting brand of football and will be fun to watch.
