Top table leaders Manchester United will travel to East London to kick off against West Ham looking to add three points towards their five point lead over second place Arsenal on their way to their 19th Premiere League title. But a resurrected Hammers side won’t make it easy, especially on the road, a place where the Red Devils have been less than impressive with four wins, eight draws and three losses in 15 games.

West Ham, currently sitting 17th on the table, have been battling relegation for most of the season since starting League play with four consecutive defeats, including a 3-0 dismantling by Manchester United.

However, the side has been surging as of late, taking 11 of 15 points by posting three wins, a loss and a scoreless draw in their last six total matches, including an impressive 5-1 victory over Burnley in FA Cup competition before being eliminated in the quarterfinals by Stoke City, 2-1.

One reason for the side’s sudden turnaround is the return of key players and new additions to the starting XI, including Thomas Hitzlsperger who was injured for the first half of the season. The German midfielder has become a driving force in the Hammers engine room along with star player Scott Parker in center pitch.

The club has also gotten some additional firepower from Senegal international striker Demba Ba, a signing from Hoffenheim in January, who has netted four goals in four Premier League starts. The Bundesliga transfer has breathed new life into an at times predictable strike force.

West Ham has won their past three home games in all competitions, scoring 11 goals in the process, and has won seven of the last nine at Upton Park. Both away and at home, they have lost just once in nine, and claimed a fine 0-0 draw at Spurs last time out.

Meanwhile, Man United had been undefeated until losing to bottom table Wolverhampton, and have now lost three of their past four with back-to-back losses at Chelsea and Liverpool.

Yet, there is good news despite the Red Devils recent form, as Ecuadorian winger Antonio Valencia has emerged from a bad leg break suffered against the Rangers in the Champions League in September. As his fitness improves, he will become a vital weapon in the Red Devils title hunt.

Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov leads the side with 20 goals on the season, but has hit a cold spell, scoring just a lone goal in his last seven Premier League matches. It came in 88th minute of Man U’s last League match and was the game-winner in a 1-0 win over Bolton.

United have won the past five meetings against West Ham, without conceding a goal while

Neither side United are unfamiliar to key matches at the end of the season, and with Hammers trying to remain in the Premier League and Man U trying to win the title, combined with how well each side’s current form, makes this is a very tough game to call.

Matt’s Free Prediction: Manchester United 2, West Ham United 1
