Chile vs. Brazil Odds 2014 World Cup Free Picks – Round of 16

Brazil vs Chile Prediction – June 28

The home team are through to the next round but I think it is fair to say that we thought they might have been a little more convincing. [ad-1519080]

Brazil

Now they get Chile, another South American squad, that has been solid in advancing out of Group B.

Now that we are in the knockout stage it will be interesting to see whether Brazil, as the host nation plays a little more tentatively or aggressively. The fact is that if they don’t win it all they will be looked upon as a failure.

There is a lot more pressure on them than your average host country.

As long as Brazil is in the draw it is going to be tough to get good value with them.

I was actually surprised that the value is as good as it is considering the matchup and how Brazil has traditionally gotten by Chile with ease.

There are going to be better value though so this is probably not the best option.

Just because it is early in the knockout stage don’t give it more attention than it merits.

Chile

With Spain and Holland in their group it was expected that a third place finish would be all Chile could hope for. With Spain tanking the Chileans are now advancing to the next round where they have the “luxury” of taking on the host nation Spain.

These teams are pretty familiar with each other and the series has been mostly Brazil. The last time Chile beat Brazil was back in the 2001 Copa Americana. Since then they have only had 2 draws over the last 12 games.

It will take a helluva game for them to get their first win in almost a decade.

Chile is a surprise to make it this far but their fate seems sealed as they not only have to face a top team but one that has handled them easily in the past and just so happens to be the host nation.

At +500 there is some great value there but it seems very unlikely that they are going to be able to walk out on to the pitch and beat Brazil in regulation.

Their better option seems to try and force a draw and take their chances on penalties.

The best number on the board for this one is the over. There is an excellent chance that Brazil clears that number on its own and I don’t think Chile is going to be quiet either…they might even score first.

If they do look for an in-game wager on Brazil as their value will be much higher.

This one should be spirited.

Total prediction:  Over
Score prediction:  Brazil 3 – Chile 1
