The Champions League gets back underway with the second leg Semifinals this week as Barcelona and Real Madrid square up on Tuesday in the final installment of El Clasico at Camp Nou in Barcelona, Spain.

Barcelona hosts their rival with not only a 2-0 aggregate advantage, but also the benefit on away goals.

Meanwhile, the pressure is on for Real as they try to right a sinking ship that was on a wayward path in their first leg appearance last week. The Madridistas was outgunned and even worse outclassed by Barca as Boss Jose Mourinho was relegated to pure thuggish tactics by the end of the match.

The Catalanto dominated the ball with extended periods of possession, keeping the ball away from a Madrid squad the finished the match with just 28 percent possession and a possession time of just over 17 minutes. Barcelona pounded the Meringues on the counter attack, simply outworking them on both ends of the pitch.

As for Barcelona, they are just 90 minutes away punching their ticket to Wembley for a rematch of their 2009 meeting with Manchester United, who are also just a match away from heading to this year’s Finals.

Barca head coach Pep Guardiola has lost just four of 37 Champions League games while at the helm and losing this one doesn’t factor in. Even if the side should lose by a one-goal margin, they would still advance.

Lionel Messi continued to dazzle the international soccer world with two brilliant goals in the first leg. Once again, the Maestro put his team on his back, and come through over the Catalanto’s most hated rivals on the road.

Real will need to make some major adjustments in personal and strategy if they are to have any hope of getting the upper hand in this one or advancing. They will get some help on the backline as defender Ricardo Carvalho comes back from his suspension, but will exchange the veteran for Pepe who will be sidelined for this match due to a red card in the first leg bloodbath. They will also have to go on the offensive early on, which once again could leave them at the mercy of a very productive Barcelona counter attack.

The key players to watch are Messi as well as David Villa. If the two catch fire and are left unmarked early on, this could be over by the half.

The last time Real Madrid won by two goals in the away leg of a Champions League knockout tie was against Barcelona in 2002. However, I don’t expect that to happen this time.

Matt’s Free Prediction: Barcelona 2, Real Madrid 1

One reply on “Real Madrid vs. Barcelona Betting Odds: Champions League Picks”

I can’t see Barca losing this tie. If Real plays offensively, they will leave spaces in defense and Barcelona will take advantage. We could see some more spectacular goals from the world’s best strikers: Messi, Villa and Ronaldo.
