AFC Divisional Playoff NFL Spread: Chargers vs. Steelers

Point spread and prediction for the afc divisional playoff weekend nfl clash between the San Diego Chargers and the Pittsburgh Steelers plus the betting spreads, and betting trends for nfl football gambling…

NFL Divisional Playoffs – San Diego vs Pittsburgh

The San Diego Chargers needed overtime to beat the Indianapolis Colts but they did so. In beating the Colts, the Chargers beat a team that had won 9 straight games and was led by the reigning NFL MVP, Peyton Manning. But things don’t get easier for the 9 and 8 straight-up Chargers as they have to take their game to Pittsburgh to play the Steelers. Earlier this season, San Diego was actually very good in losing to Pittsburgh by a score of 11 to 10. If San Diego’s defense can replicate that, then the Chargers will have a shot in this game. If it can’t, then the Steelers should win easily. Against the BetUS online betting spread, San Diego is 7-8-1 this season.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a terrific team. No team plays with as much heart as the Steelers. They deserved to win the NFC North by sweeping the Baltimore Ravens. Now that they’ve gotten a week to rest, which Steelers’ team will show up? Sometimes Pittsburgh just doesn’t have it. Even though their straight-up record this season was 12 and 4, the Steelers had a difficult time against the BetUS online betting spread going 9 and 7.

Here are the BetUS online NFL betting odds for this game:

San Diego Chargers + 6 – 110 + 220 O 38 – 110
Pittsburgh Steelers -6 – 110 – 260 U 38 – 110

Here are a few online wagering trends that might help us find a good online bet in this game:

The San Diego Chargers are 9-3-1 against the spread in their last 13 games against an opponent with a winning record.
The Under is 7-2-1 in the San Diego Chargers last 10 games against an AFC Conference opponent.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are 5 and 1 against the spread in their last 6 games overall.
The Over is 11 and 4 in the Pittsburgh Steelers last 15 vs. an AFC Conference opponent.

Like the earlier game between the Giants and Eagles, I’m just not confident about the BetUS Total either way enough to make an online bet.

To me, this game comes down to the Chargers. Which Chargers’ team shows up? The defense was very good last Sunday when the Chargers beat the Indianapolis Colts but does that mean that the defense will be good against Big Ben and the Steelers?

I believe it might. The Chargers have slowly, towards the end of season, started to resemble the team that made the AFC Conference Championship last year.

Their offense hasn’t lost a step with Darren Sproles filling in for LaDanian Tomlinson and Philip Rivers has the best quarterback rating in the NFL.

Chargers vs. Steelers Prediction:

Do the Chargers have a chance to upset the Steelers? Yes, they do. But I’m not playing with fire in this one. I’ll be making an online bet on the San Diego Chargers to beat the BetUS Sportsbook online betting spread of 6 points.
