2009 PGA – Pebble Beach Invitational Picks

Odds on golfers to finish in the Top Eight of this week’s 2009 Pebble Beach Invitational, the next stop on the PGA tour…

Pebble Beach Props – Top 8 Picks

Because golf is such a difficult sport to find a winner, the BetUS Sportsbook offers betting lines besides the traditional To Win.

One of those betting lines is receiving odds on golfers to finish in the Top Eight. It’s not an easy bet to win but it’s easier than actually picking the winner of the tournament.

Let’s analyze some of the better wagering options in the sportsbook in regards to a Top Eight finish in this weekend’s Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Pebble Beach Top Eight

1. Jim Furyk +130 – – Furyk is the top pick to finish in the Top Eight at Pebble Beach. He probably won’t win it but he definitely has the skills to get himself into the Top Eight. Furyk’s game is all about not taking stupid chances and just being consistent. A top eight paycheck in these PGA Events would make anybody happy. I love Furyk as a bet.

2. Kenny Perry +220 – – Perry is another consistent guy who should do well at Pebble Beach. Perry took last weekend off to concentrate on this tournament. That could really help him. Top Eight wise, he’s almost a sure thing to me because his consistency is what takes him above and beyond. Perry’s a solid online wager.

3. KJ Choi +275 – – Choi is underrated as a golfer. He only has to finish in the top eight with this bet so it makes sense to take the odds. He can win it, I think. So, putting money on him to finish in the Top Eight is a no-brainer.

4. Mike Weir +180 – – This is another golfer that could win the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Weir has become one of the better golfers on the PGA Tour. He should be right there on Sunday which means a Top Eight finish is likely.

5. Phil Mickelson +130 – – Lefty gets the nod over Padraig and Vijay because he was so awful two weeks ago and then bounced back last weekend. He could win this tournament if he keeps his head straight and doesn’t think too hard, but more likely he will finish in the Top Eight.

6. David Toms +220 – – The odds on Toms is better than Vijay and Padraig and he’s definitely more consistent. Vijay and Padraig both won’t be on their A games until this spring. I like Toms to do enough to get that Top Eight finish.

Best Long Shots

Steve Lowery +1200 – – He won this tournament last season. At +1200 to finish in the top eight, he’s a serious overlay.

Jesper Parnevik +2000 – – Jesper hasn’t been great for a while. All he has to do is be really good to finish in the top eight at Pebble Beach. I’m taking a swing at +2000.
