Free PGA Picks: 2015 WGC Bridgestone Invitational Golf Betting Preview

This Week’s PGA Tour Predictions!

A terrific field has gathered in Akron, Ohio for the 2015 WGC Bridgestone Invitational. Firestone Country Club will once again play host to the elite of the golf world on its par 70, 7,400 yard layout – by far the longest par 70 in a non-major. Just two par 5s await meaning that a healthy dose of long par 4s will be staring the pros in the face.

Obviously length off the tee will be essential here. I will be looking at course history and present form as well when making my picks. Tee-to-green play will have to be strong; par 4 scoring average is also an important stat.

With all of that in mind, who should we be looking at this week? Let’s take a look.

2015 WGC Bridgestone Favorites:

Jordan Spieth 9/2

Not much question here. He has been inside the top 5 in five of his last six tournaments including all three Majors this year, he leads the PGA TOUR in adjusted scoring, par-4 scoring and is one of the best putters on the planet! Spieth is easily the best golfer in the world right now and a deserving favorite.

Dustin Johnson 11/1

On a track in which length is the key, Dustin has to be in the conversation- especially considering this isn’t a Major! DJ should be in the mix assuming he doesn’t wilt under the pressure.

Jason Day 14/1

Was last seen winning the Canadian Open and now has top 10 finishes in 7 of his 14 starts this year. His stats line up well here – he leads the TOUR in birdie average and ranks second in driving distance and all-around. Day may be the hottest guy on TOUR outside of some guy names Spieth.

2015 WGC Bridgestone Contenders:

Adam Scott 16/1

Scott seems to finally be coming around – top 10s in his last two starts – amazing what the return of his caddy has done! He won this event in 2011 and was T8 here last year. He was last seen finishing top 10 in The Open.

Justin Rose 16/1

Finished T6 two starts back at The Open and was T4 last week at the Quicken Loans. He now has top 10 finishes in three of his last four starts and has four top 5s in this event including a T4 last year. Rose has quietly been very good lately and is definitely a threat again this week.

Rickie Fowler 16/1

Finished second last week in the Quicken Loans and has two wins in his last seven starts – THE PLAYERS and in Scotland. He finished T8 here last year – his second top 10 finish on this track and enters this week in terrific form. Fowler will be looking to ramp up for the PGA next week – he could be a factor.

Sergio Garcia 28/1

Led most of the way in this event last year before eventually finishing second – he set the course record in the second round with a 61.

[dfads params=’groups=526&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

He enters in good form – top 6 finishes in his last two starts overall and has four straight top 25s worldwide including at T6 at The Open and a playoff loss at TPC Sawgrass. His history isn’t terrific here but his current form is very good.

2015 WGC Bridgestone Sleepers (50/1 or higher):

Danny Willett 66/1

Is quickly ascending up the ranks. He enters off a win in Switzerland, had a T6 at The Open and was even third in the Match Play. Willett will be a household name on TOUR – it’s just a matter of time.

Marc Leishman 66/1

Leishman at 66/1? He lost in a playoff at The Open last time out and finished third in this event last year. Leishman is an intriguing mix of course history and present form!

Danny Lee 75/1

How about Danny Lee? He won the Greenbrier, had a T3 at the John Deere and was T4 at the Quicken Loans – don’t sleep on Mr. Lee!

2015 WGC Bridgestone Picks:

The pick is Justin Rose at 16/1. His stats line up very well for this track, his course history is excellent and his current form is also very good. The only thing missing lately is a win – my bet is that he gets it this week.

The sleeper is Danny Lee at 75/1 – there is zero arguing with his current form. He’s hot as a firecracker right now.
