This Week’s PGA Tour Predictions!

As per usual ball striking will be of utmost importance this week – warming up for what awaits them is the Pacific Northwest should be at a premium. TPC at Southwind was the hardest par 70 in a non-major last year – it will be a good test.

So who should we keep an eye out for this week? Let’s take a look.

2015 St. Jude Classic Favorites:

Dustin Johnson 11/2

DJ is clearly the class of what is a watered down field this week. The 2012 Champ finished T10 here in 2013 and T24 last year as well. His course history is tremendous; his present form is good (top 15s at TPC Four Seasons and Muirfield Village) and his motivation to ramp up for the US Open in a week’s time makes Johnson the obvious favorite.

Phil Mickelson 12/1

Will use this week to ramp up for the US Open – he has played well here in the past. Phil enters in typically inconsistent form however – a runner-up at The Masters and T-4 at the Wells Fargo Championship to go along with a missed the cut at The PLAYERS and a T-65 last week at The Memorial. I just can’t trust Mickelson despite finishing co-runner-up in 2013 and T11 last year.

Billy Horschel 14/1

After a slow start to the season Horschel is finally starting to find his groove – a T13 at THE PLAYERS and T11 at the Memorial to go along with a number of other top 20 finishes. He has finished T10 and T6 here in his last two tries on this track and looks poised to break through this week.

Ryan Palmer 14/1

Palmer has been up and down lately – a pair of missed cuts was followed by a T10 last week at TPC Four Season. He’s had a T3 and a 4th here in 2012 and 2013 and enters in some decent form. Palmer is a Horse for the Course and in a watered down field could be the guy this week.

2015 St. Jude Classic Contenders:

Webb Simpson 16/1

Course history and present form have Simpson on the radar. He finished T2 at Quail Hollow in his last start and was T3 here last year. His stats line up well for this track – fourth in strokes gained: tee-to-green; third in all-around. Webb is a guy to look at on tracks that suit his game – TPC at Southwind is one of those tracks.

[dfads params=’groups=526&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Jamie Donaldson 28/1

Has been good lately – a T8 at TPC Sawgrass and a T18 events in the BMW PGA Championship but he makes his debut on this track. He has some decent stats ahead of this week and in a less-than-spectacular field could break through with his first PGA win.

George McNeill 45/1

Has very quietly put together a good run – a T5 at Colonial and a T13 at Muirfield Village. He has made the cut in eight straight tournaments and has finished inside the top 20 in five of those tournaments and enters as hot as anyone in the field this week – believe it or not!

2015 St. Jude Classic Sleepers (50/1 or higher):

Jason Bohn 55/1

Has finished inside the top 10 four times this season including a T9 at Quail Hollow and T2 at Colonial in his last three starts. He has been good on this track as well the last two years – a T-24 and T-18 and based on his career-best form is an intriguing 55/1 this week. He ranks T4 in par 4 scoring on TOUR, 5th in accuracy and 17th in GIR – perfect for a long run here.

Brian Harman 66/1

Has been playing some good golf this year – top 10s at TPC Sawgrass and Colonial and he did finish T6 on this track last year. Harman has the game to make some noise here – just a hunch!

2015 St. Jude Classic Picks:

Gotta go with Billy Horschel at 14/1 this week. He has consistently improved on this track culminating in a T6 last year –and he enters in pretty good form. Billy rides a hot putter to the victory this week.

Want some value – look no further than Brian Harman at 66/1. He enters with his arrow pointing up – and he did have a T6 here last year. In a watered down field Harman may be worth a shot.
