Cherry Hills is no stranger to tournament action – it hosted the 1960 US Open, the 1990 US Amateur Championship that Phil Mickelson won, it was the scene of the 2012 UP Amateur and was the sight of the 1993 US Senior Open. That said it has been a long time since Cherry Hill was in the spotlight.

Cherry Hills will play 7,352 yards on its par 70 layout with altitude giving players extra length off the tee. That said a look at the course shows that accuracy off the tee and around the greens may be the biggest factor here.

The best that golf has to offer will all be here – it should be interesting.

BMW Championship Betting Favorites:

Rory McIlroy 9/1

Was a serious contender last week despite a horrible first round – eventually finishing T5. Everything about his game is spot on at the moment – pretty hard to bet against him right now! Tee to green there is nobody better – exactly what is needed on this track.

Adam Scott 12/1

Is coming off his worst result in months – a T16 last week isn’t terrible but not quite the form that we have come to expect. He is the TOUR leader in all-around and third in adjusted scoring, seventh in ball striking and third in par 4 scoring average.

[dfads params=’groups=526&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Scott is 1B while Rory is 1A.

Jason Day 14/1

Is the only player with top 10s in both playoff starts so far – a T2 followed a T7 last week in a tournament he led after 54 holes. He’s gotta win some time – his putter is scorching and his all around game has never looked better.

BMW Championship Betting Contenders:

Ricky Fowler 20/1

Is a player overdue for a win – an impressive string of top 10s was snapped last week with a T23 at TPC Boston. The difference in his game has been putting – something he’s struggled with in the past but has really come on of late.

Accuracy could be an issue – something that scares me off just a tad this week.

Sergio Garcia 22/1

Took last week off in order to get some rest for the Ryder Cup. Sergio has been superb all season long and has the game to contend here as well. He is second on TOUR in strokes gained putting and tee-to-green has been terrific.

[dfads params=’groups=63738&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

With the Ryder Cup on the horizon expect to see the best of Sergio this week.

Jim Furyk 25/1

Got his one bad tournament out of the way last week – a T23. Accuracy and consistency is key at Cherry Hills – perfect for Furyk. He’s third on TOUR in strokes gained, second in proximity, first in scrambling. I can’t imagine that Furyk isn’t a factor!

BMW Championship Betting Sleepers (50/1 or higher):

Chris Kirk 50/1

Coming off a terrific win last week at the Deutsche Bank – Kirk is officially on the radar! His greens in regulation stat wasn’t great last week but the rest of his game more than made up for it. Watch out for a confident Kirk.

Billy Horschel 66/1

Pretty streaky guy may be on to something after his second place finish last week. We always knew he had the game but a little swagger looks good on Billy for sure.

Hideki Matsuyama 66/1

Is one of only a few that have played here – although he had little success in the 2012 US Amateur. Matsuyama is sneaky good and has the perfect game to contend this week.

BMW Championship Free Golf Pick:

The pick this week is Jim Furyk at 25/1. He absolutely has to win some time this year and on a track that suits his game better than the other contenders, my hunch is that this is Jim’s week.

My sleeper is Billy Horschel at 66/1. He looked poised in defeat last week and should be motivated to pick up where he left off.
