Players like Tiger Woods and Martin Kaymer will unexpectedly tee it up this week hoping to gain that berth in the FedEx Cup – each has some work to do.

Sedgefield Country Club will play host to the Wyndham – a par-70 layout that stretches out to a relatively short 7,127 yards – both par 5s are reachable even for the average TOUR pro.

Sedgefield was the easiest par 70 that the pros played last year -par 4 scoring average, scrambling ability and a hot putter will certainly help this week. Current form and a little desperation for a number of Pros in the field could factor in as well.

So who should we keep out eye on in the last regular event on TOUR this season? Let’s take a look.

2015 Wyndham Championship Favorites:

Brooks Koepka 14/1

Finished T5 at the PGA last week which followed a T6 at Firestone – he hasn’t let up all summer long. He enters having finished inside the top 18 six straight times. He is 21st on TOUR in GIR and third in adjusted scoring and was T38 in his debut here in 2014. Koepka has the overall game and the current form to make things interesting this week.

Brandt Snedeker 16/1

Quietly finished T12 last week and returns to a course he has had some success – three top eights in his last six starts here including a win in 2007 and a T5 last year. He has now finished inside the top twelve in five of his last seven tournaments – trending upward indeed. He has the motivation of trying to qualify for the President’s Cup team as well – he is on the outside looking in!

Hideki Matsuyama 18/1

Has been good, not great lately – he just can’t seem to put together four solid rounds. He has made the cut in 12 straight tournaments however and ranks T3 on TOUR in par-4 scoring. Matsuyama was 15th in his debut at this tournament in 2013 and enters this year in good, not spectacular form.

2015 Wyndham Championship Contenders:

Adam Scott 19/1

One of the bigger names entered should, in theory do well here – a good all around game is what is needed at Sedgefield. Putting is essential here – that scares me a bit.

Branden Grace 19/1

Grace isn’t sneaking up on anyone anymore. Off a solid third at the PGA he should be in the mix again. He is eighth on TOUR in both strokes gained: putting and scrambling and is one of the hotter players in the field this week.

Justin Thomas 22/1

Aggressiveness may be his friend this week. He enters off a T18 at the PGA and now has two top fives and a T18 in his last three starts. He could make some noise here for sure.

Webb Simpson 27/1

Horse for the Course. Simpson, although he has struggled with the new putter has done very well at Sedgfield – a win in 2011 and five straight top 22 finishes and he’s been inside the top eleven in four of his last five starts overall.

Will Wilcox 45/1

Has been absolutely terrific of late – a T10 at the Barracuda was third top 10 in last four starts. He leads the TOUR in all-around, is 4th in GIR and T3 in par 4 scoring – perfect traits for this track. Wilcox will win sooner or later – why not in this watered down field?

2015 Wyndham Championship Sleepers (50/1 or higher):

Carl Pettersson 60/1

Has a bit of a home town advantage in this one. North Carolina resident finished T4 in 2011 and 2012 and has top 6 finishes in his last six starts overall including a T4 in the Quicken Loans earlier this month.

Ollie Schniederjans 85/1

Has finished T12, T22 and T15 in his last three events – impressive and is definitely under the radar. The Wyndham has a knack of producing first time winners – in a less than spectacular field Schniederjans could provide the upset.

Austin Cook 95/1

Highly regarded Web.com tour player has made five of six PGA cuts this year including a T6, T22, T11 and, most recently, T7 at the RBC Canadian Open.

2015 Wyndham Championship Picks:

The pick this week is Brandt Snedeker at 16/1. He is playing well and gets a crack at a course that suits his game very well.

The sleeper is Carl Pettersson at 60/1. Home town guy on a track he loves.
