PGA Picks/Predictions: Zurich Classic Odds
Most golf betting fans are simply waiting for the Players Championship to get here, but the Zurich Classic will have to do for now. The Zurich takes place at the TPC Louisiana in New Orleans, where Andres Romero (+3300 odds) is the defending champion. Kenny Perry is the favorite with +1200 odds.
Perry enjoyed a great run at the Masters, finishing second, but he’s looking to bounce back from a rough finish. Overall, he’s having a very solid season, with six top-10 finishes in 10 starts this season, putting him third in FedEx Cup standings. Perry, who won the FBR Open in February, is a very strong threat to get the job done in New Orleans.
Nick Watney and Steve Stricker follow closely behind with +1600 Zurich Classic odds. Watney earned his first career victory here in 2007, so perhaps he can rekindle the magic. He has eight top-25 finishes in nine starts this year and is right behind Perry in the FedEx Cup standings. Perry ranks among the top 15 golfers in scoring average, driving distance, scrambling and putting. He finished 19th at the Masters.
Stricker managed a sixth-place tie at the Masters, moving him to ninth in the FedEx standings. He’s finished in the top 20 in six of his last eight starts, including four top-six finishes. Besides a poor effort at the Shell Houston Open a few weeks ago, Stricker has played very good golf lately.
Rory Sabbatini finished in a tie for eighth at the Verizon Heritage, which followed up a 20th place showing at the Masters. Sabbatini is ninth in putting right now and, at +2500, he warrants consideration.
Woody Austin (+3300) is a great name to consider on sportsbook odds. Austin earned top-five finishes in two of his last three appearances at TPC Louisiana. Austin hasn’t missed a cut this season, having made 15 straight dating back to last season, so the consistency is there-he just needs to finish the job. Austin missed the Masters but he finished 11th at the Verizon Heritage a few weeks back.
K.J. Choi, Mike Weir, Stephen Ames, Ian Poulter and Justin Rose also check in at +3300 on golf lines.
Kenny Perry is playing well right now, but Woody Austin offers better value. Austin has been sniffing around the top of the leader board at the Zurich for a few years now. This year, he’ll get the job done.
