Northern Trust Open Top Ten Bets

There are a lot of golf betting lines offered by the BetUS Sportsbook. Some of them are easier to make winning wagers on than others.

One of those betting lines that the sportsbook offers that could be an easy one for gamblers is to determine which golfers will finish in the Top Ten.

This week’s tournament, the Northern Trust Open, is for a purse of $6,300,000. Last year Phil Mickelson won the tournament.

Let’s analyze Phil’s chances as well as some other golfers’ chances to finish in the Top Ten.

Golf: Northern Trust Open Top Ten

Phil Mickelson +135 – – Lefty won this tournament last year. There’s no reason to believe he can’t win this tournament again. It’s about time Phil stepped it up and got himself at the very least a top ten finish.

Mike Weir +135 – – Weir probably would have made a run for the Pebble Beach title last weekend if it hadn’t rained out two days in a row. Weir’s the type of golfer who won’t let the missed chance get to him. I expect him to have a say in the outcome of the NTO so a top ten finish is very probable.

Jim Furyk +180 – – Furyk had a less than spectacular Pebble Beach but like everybody else he only got to play three rounds. He should do what he usually does in the NTO which is make a big effort to at least get a top ten finish.

Vijay Singh +180 – – Vijay is a serious contender to win the NTO after warming up in other tournaments in early February and January. He can take home the trophy. Unlike Padraig Harrington, Vijay will be happy with a top ten finish this early in the season.

Kenny Perry +225 – – I like Perry every week and the NTO is no different. One of the most consistent golfers on the Tour should have no problem with assuming a top ten finish this Sunday.

DJ Trahan +400 – – Trahan is the type of golfer that could put two or three or four solid efforts back to back without winning. At +400 to finish in the Top Ten, Trahan is a terrific wager based on how he did at Pebble Beach last week.

Best Long Shots

Stuart Appleby +700 – – Appleby could come up and take a chunk out of the purse money at the NTO. Just when gamblers are off him, Appleby can do something special.

Carl Pettersson +650 – – Pettersson has the ability to finish in the top ten almost every time he takes to the links. He too can really do something special by simply sticking to his guns and not making mistakes.

Fred Couples +1200 – – Couples had a terrific Pebble Beach. Whether or not he can carry that over to the NTO is another question, but at +1200, he’s not a terrible bet to finish in the top ten.
