Deutsche Bank Championship Odds – Harrington finally gets into the winner’s circle
Friday’s Deutsche Bank Championship odds features the prohibitive favorite every time he tees it up, but this week’s winner will be a three-time major winner who has been ostracized all season long for swing changes that are finally starting to pay off.
Deutsche Bank Championship Odds – Friday, September 4
Tiger Woods (+150) – The world’s No.1 has finished in the top two in five of his last six events, winning three times, but missing that putt on the 72nd hole of The Barclays is probably burning his soul right now. He likes the TPC Boston, where he won in 2006 and finished second in 2007.
Padraig Harrington (+1600) – After being a non-factor for most of the season, Harrington has come on with three top-10s in a row, including two runner-ups. Harrington has been putting himself in position to win, and with his pedigree, he’s due for a win in your offshore sportsbook.
Ernie Els (+2000) – “The Big Easy” has four top-10s in his last six starts, and you wouldn’t know it, but he’s seventh on the PGA Tour gambling list in final-round scoring average. The problem is, for the better part of the year Els wasn’t in contention to win. He finished third in this event last year, and after his T-2 last week at The Barclays, he could be back….but we’re reserving judgement.
Steve Marino (+6600) – Okay, so he has some recent troubles when it comes to the final round, but you would think that he learned a few things from that. Still, he has two top-15s in a row, and with the value that his Deutsche Bank Championship odds offers, he’s a solid darkhorse pick in your handicapping software, especially with his T-10 here last year.
Mike Weir (+6600) – Another value wagering pick, the Canadian finished 31st at The Barclays in what has been an up-and-down season. He finished second to winner Vijay Singh here, and he tied the course record with an opening-round 61.
PICK: Harrington is the play this weekend, as you can get better value for him than you ever could for Woods, and he’s been knocking on the door over the last three weeks. Finally, I’d put him up there with Woods in terms of mental strength in the final round.
