It’s a weird thought, but the Sharks and the suddenly relevant Coyotes are developing a nice little rivalry in the Pacific Division. Both teams enter the night with solid momentum. The Sharks are seriously rolling, having won six straight games. They’ve won on the home and the road and they’ve beaten some excellent teams during their run – including Chicago, Washington and Phoenix.
The Coyotes have won four of five games with their only blemish being the overtime loss to the Sharks on Monday night.
Phoenix has a legit chance at revenge tonight considering that it’s won 10 straight games at home. The Desert dogs are a resilient bunch, relying on solid penalty killing, great goaltending and an ability to come from behind, as they did to force overtime in San Jose on Monday.
I still don’t see Phoenix downing the red-hot sharks tonight, however. When San Jose gets on one of these hot streaks, you have to ride it at the sportsbook, as the Sharks have a major firepower advantage over the Coyotes and can match them defensively. The Thornton/Marleau/Heatley line may not explode, but it will do enough to give San Jose the victory.
