Team records:
Detroit: 27-21-10
St. Louis: 25-25-9

Tonight, 8:00 p.m. ET
Sportsbook odds: Red Wings -130, Blues +110

Don’t look now, but the perennial powerhouse Wings have a chance to resemble their old selves again. The wins still aren’t coming – they’ve lost two straight – but they’re getting healthier again. Valtteri Filppula is back and Johan Franzen will reportedly return from his torn ACL tonight. That should give a major boost to Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk.

The poor Blues have had a mean schedule of late. February so far consists of Chicago, San Jose, Chicago again and Colorado. The Blues have lost three straight and it’s no wonder given their list of dangerous opponents. Similar to Buffalo, St. Louis scores so rarely that it needs great goaltending from Chris Mason and/or Ty Conklin every night.Sports Betting at the Sportsbook Mason had a great January (5-3-3, 2.16, .921) but the wheels have fallen off this month (1-2-0, 3.72, .886). He even got the hook last night in Colorado.

Ty Conklin will likely get the call tonight and he is in fact 2-0 against Detroit this season. It’s not an easy decision, as the Wings are probably facing a goalie that has their number, but I don’t trust St. Louis to score enough to support their goaltender. Go with the Wings and their superior talent.

With the Red Wings starting to get some players back from injury they should improve. The Blues have been way to inconsistent all year long so it is hard to know what to expect from them. If I had to make a play on this one I would take Detroit.
