After losing eight of 11, the New York Rangers clearly needed a shot in the arm. They’re just the latest team to believe it can “change” perennial castoff but talented forward Olli Jokinen. The big Finn punched his ticket to New York late last night after Calgary shipped him to the Rangers along with Brandon Brust for Chris Higgins and Ales Kotalik.
Even if Jokinen suits up tonight, the Rangers will be at a disadvantage. They’re a low-scoring team ushering in two tired, discombobulated players for a road game.
Their star goalie, Henrik Lundqvist, has battled a violent stomach flu and is no guarantee to play tonight. 
Meanwhile, the L.A. Kings are playing their best hockey since No. 99 wore their “C.” They’ve now won six straight games and eight of nine.
Anze Kopitar had a nice renaissance in January once Ryan Smyth rejoined him, amassing 17 points in 14 games. The big story in La-La Land, of course, is Drew Doughty. The young defenseman has an outstanding 42 points and is plus-15 in 55 games this year.
He’s taken the team on his shoulders, especially on the power play, where he has six goals and 23 points.
