Four of the top five teams in the NHL’s overall standings battle each other tonight when the Pens visit the Devils. It’s a fun time for hockey picks.Sports Betting at the Sportsbook

Pittsburgh Penguins @ New Jersey Devils

Tonight, 7:00 p.m. ET
Sportsbook odds: Penguins +130, Devils -150

Everything about this matchup points to a Devils victory. New Jersey has won six of seven and seven of eight on home ice. It’s already 3-0 against Pittsburgh this season, outscoring the defending champs 12-2 over that span. It seems Martin Brodeur and Jacques Lemaire’s stingy defensive system are in the Penguins’ heads.

It’s hard to figure out the Pens right now. They dominated in early December but have looked sluggish as can be of late, losing three of four. They blew a 3-0 lead in Buffalo last night. Evgeni Malkin also may not be 100 per cent. He had a hat trick on December 3 but has only scored in one of his last six games. To compete with the suffocating Devils, Pittsburgh needs Geno at the top of his game.

Led by Zach Parise, the Devils are quietly getting the offense they need. They’ve scored three or more goals nine times in their last 12 games and should give Brodeur enough support to extend their record against Pittsburgh to 4-0 on the year.

New Jersey seems to have the edge over the Penguins at this point of the season. That may change at some point as I can remember last year when the Pens got hot down the stretch, but for the purpose of this game I like the Devils.
