The Montreal Canadiens continue their annual Western road trip on Tuesday night against a team that they have had a lot of trouble with in the recent past. Montreal hasn’t been playing all that well as of late and the Vancouver Canucks have alternated wins and losses in their last six games.

Montreal has lost the first two games of their typically tough road trip and has been outscored in those games 8-1. Nothing appears to be going well for the Habs at the moment – not even the return of their offensive leader from injury could rescue them from their recent struggles.

The Habs have the 26th ranked offense in the NHL averaging 2.5 goals per game. Nobody has been good offensively for the Canadiens except for the rookies Max Pacioretty who has 13 points in 13 games and David Desharnais who has seven points in his last seven games. Hopes are that Mike Cammalleri can spark Scott Gomez and Brian Gionta who have both gone pointless in their last three games.

Carey Price is in the midst of a mini-slump. He has been notoriously bad on the West Coast so there are no long-term worries for the Canadiens. He is 0-2-0 with a 3.52 goals against average in his last two starts.

The Vancouver Canucks have been the best team in the NHL the entire season. They have the best offense, the best defense, the best power play and the fourth best penalty killing unit in the NHL. The Canucks are a handful even though they re banged up in the defensive zone.

Vancouver has the best offense in the NHL with an average of 3.3 goals per game. Daniel Sedin is currently the league leader in points in the NHL and Henrik is third. Their line mate Alex Burrows has 14 points in his last 13 games. Ryan Kesler has averaged a point per game in his last 15 and even Raffi Torres and Manny Malhotra are scoring again – scary!

Vancouver is also the best defense in the NHL and although Alex Edler, Kevin Bieksa, Keith Ballard and Andrew Alberts will sit out, Dan Hamhuis will likely make his return to the depleted Canucks. Roberto Luongo has been stellar for Vancouver this season. He is 7-2-2 with a 1.89 goals against average in his last nine games overall, is 11-0-3 in his last 14 game at home with a 1.81 goals against average but is 3-3-0 in his last six games versus Montreal with a 1.70 goals against average.

Betting Prediction: The Montreal Canadiens are 12-15-1 on the road this season and are just 1-10 in their last 11 games on the road in Vancouver. The Vancouver Canucks are an impressive 21-4-5 at home this season and are 7-0-1 in their last eight games at home versus Montreal. Vancouver is 11-3-1 in their last 15 games against Montreal overall.

The Vancouver Canucks are simply in a different class than the Montreal Canadiens. With Montreal struggling, Vancouver should have its way with the Habs. Montreal’s immense struggles in Vancouver will continue!

Pick: Vancouver Canucks -180
