The Boston Bruins will try to extend the amazing streak that goaltender Tim Thomas has been on to start the season when they take on the underwhelming Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night. Boston has been one of the best teams in the NHL so far this season while the Sabres currently sit in 29th place in the NHL standings.

Tim Thomas has been on an amazing streak. He is 6-0-0 with an absolutely miniscule 0.50 goals against average and a .982 save percentage. He has three shutouts so far and has yet to yield more than one goal in any outing this season. He is a large reason why the Bruins as a whole are giving up an average of 1.38 goals per game this year.

Boston has been getting some offensive production as well. Newly acquired Nathan Horton looks like one of the best off season pickups as he currently leads the Bruins in scoring. He and his line mates Milan Lucic and David Krejci have recorded 26 combined points in eight games.

The Sabres are on the other end of the spectrum. Their Vezina winning goaltender Ryan Miller has stumbled out of the gate going 3-5-2 with a 2.71 goals against average. Like so many of the Sabres, Miller is dealing with an injury and could give way to Patrick Lalime (0-2 with a 4.04 goals against average) on Wednesday night.

Derek Roy leads the team in scoring with just nine points so far. Jason Pomiville will provide a little more offense as he returns to the lineup Wednesday. They’ll need it – Boston is sizzling right now.

Boston has yet to lose on the road this season and the Sabres have yet to win at home. With Ryan Miller sitting this game out, this pick went from fairly easy to extremely easy.
