The Vancouver Canucks host another of the Western Conference Heavyweights on Tuesday night. Both teams have been unspectacular so far this season – the Avs have lost three of their last four games and the Canucks have yet to win consecutive games so far this season.

The Colorado Avalanche have been giving up a lot of goals so far this season – 3.62 goals per game. Their defense has been bad and their penalty killing has been poor- 75.7%. However, they are scoring some goals as well. They currently have seven players with at least seven points – led by John-Michael Lyles who has at least one assist in all eight games so far.

The Canucks have been OK offensively too but until they have to get Roberto Luongo on track. Although he himself has suffered from a lack of offensive support, Lou’s record is 1-3-2 with nearly a 3 goals against average and a .903 save percentage – Not nearly good enough for a player his caliber.

Betting Prediction: The Canuck are 3-0-1 at home so far this season and are coming off a 5-1 shellacking of the Minnesota Wild. For once, the Canucks didn’t have to rely on the Sedins to win – secondary scoring finally woke up and gave the Canucks a boost. The Avalanche will start Peter Budaj in goal on Tuesday – he is a pretty big step down from Craig Anderson. I like the Canucks to come out hard and prove why they are considered a front runner toward the Cup this season.
