The Habs come into Monday’s showdown having gone just 5-5-0 in their last 10 games but are coming off a 4-3 win on the road in Toronto Saturday night. Montreal has won two of the three meetings between the clubs this season and will be looking to cement their position in the Eastern Conference Playoff picture Monday night.

The Montreal Canadiens have a ton to play for down the stretch – third place and home ice in the first round in the playoffs is squarely on their minds – eight points separate third in the conference with tenth!

Carey Price should start this game – Peter Budaj is 0-3-0 with a 4.65 GAA and .833 save percentage in his last three games. Price has been OK but isn’t stealing any games for the Habs as of late. The good news is that he is 17-8-3 with a 2.50 goals-against average and .919 save percentage against Boston.

The Montreal offense comes in looking pretty good – four goals last time out was a nice output. PK Subban has 11 points in his last 11 games, Max Pacioretty has five points (one goal) in his past five, David Desharnais has six (one goal) in five and Thomas Vanek seems to have found a home in Montreal – four goals last week! The trick, like anyone playing the Bruins is…
[ad-4437448]
Tuukka Rask. He has been on fire! Rask has allowed 11 goals for a 1.55 goals-against average over a personal seven-game winning streak. Is there anyone better in the world right now?

The 12 game win streak for Boston has as much to do with the offense as it does the defense. Jarome Iginla has been terrific lately – he has 11 goals during the Bruins 12 game win streak – two goals last time out against the Coyotes. Zdeno Chara has five points in four games, Loui Eriksson and Andrej Meszaros have three points in four games. Dougie Hamilton has four assists and a plus-6 rating in his past five games – things are good in Bruins-land.

A few trends to consider:
• Over is 7-3-3 in MON last 13 road games.
• Over is 12-4-5 in BOS last 21 vs. Atlantic.
• BOS are 38-14 in their last 52 home games.
• BOS are 37-14 in their last 51 Mon. games.
• Road team is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings.

The Original 6 matchup does have some intrigue especially when you can get the Habs at +169. But the Bruins are too hot and Tuukka Rask is virtually unbeatable right now.

I know the streak has to end sometime – I don’t think it happens Monday night.

Pick: Boston Bruins -186
