NHL Betting – Friday Night Preview

There are only four games on the NHL betting schedule Friday night, and the spotlight shines solely on the Western Conference as all four contests involve a pair of teams from the West.

Vancouver at Minnesota

These Northwest Division rivals have been fighting for top spot in the division for most of the season. The Canucks’ recent slide (three straight losses heading into Thursday) allowed the Wild to take a one-point lead, which they could either build on or lose on Friday. Minnesota shut out St. Louis 4-0 on Wednesday and they’re 3-1 in their last four games. In two previous matchups between the Canucks and the Wild this season Vancouver came out on top both times, as a -135 favorite on the NHL odds at home and as a +165 underdog on the road.

Colorado at Dallas

The Stars continue to try and move on from the Sean Avery disaster, but it may have been too heavy a burden to deal with on Wednesday when they lost to Edmonton 5-2. Dallas is now 3-2 in their last five games and 4-5-1 in their last 10. Even with team captain Joe Sakic out another six weeks the Avalanche haven’t rolled over, and they’ve won three of their last four. Colorado and Dallas have faced off only once so far this season back in October when the Avalanche won 5-4 as a +120 underdog behind two goals from Milan Hejduk.

Calgary at St. Louis

The Flames had their three-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday after losing to Dallas 3-1. The Flames’ visit to St. Louis is the beginning of a four-game road trip, as Calgary tries to improve on their 5-6 road record. The Blues posted their third loss in their last four games on Wednesday after failing to score on 22 shots in a 4-0 loss to Minnesota. The Flames and Blues will be meeting up for the first time this season on Friday after Calgary went 3-1 against them last year.

Edmonton at Los Angeles

The Oilers finished off back-to-back games against Dallas on Wednesday night with a 5-2 win. On Sunday Edmonton lost to Dallas 4-3. Sheldon Souray recorded four assists in the two games and has at least one point in five of his last six games. On Tuesday the Kings dropped their second in a row with a 4-2 loss to Phoenix. The Kings travelled to Edmonton just last week and edged the Oilers 2-1 as a +155 underdog.
