Vancouver hasn’t been very good during their four game losing streak scoring just once in each of the four losses while the Panthers are coming off an impressive 4-1 road win against the Colorado Avalanche Saturday night – and they beat Anaheim last week as well.

Could the Panthers have caught the Canucks at just the right time?

After a 3-9-4 start the Florida Panthers have started to turn things around a bit – they have won two of their last three games and beat some NHL heavyweights over that span. But the Panthers are far from a good team – they are averaging 2.14 goals per game – among the lowest in the NHL.

The offense has turned up the heat – Scottie Upshall has recorded multiple-point games in two of his past three games, Brian Campbell has five points in four games, Jonathan Huberdeau has three points in two games and Tom Gilbert has three points in two games.

Then there’s the goaltending. Tim Thomas started slowly – we should have seen it coming. But in his last three starts Thomas is 2-0-1 with a 2.01 GAA and .931 save percentage. He is warming up and has a very good history against Vancouver – Canucks fans will know what I mean.

For Vancouver – check out these numbers. Alex Burrows has one point in four games, Chris Higgins is pointless in four, Daniel Sedin – pointless in five, Alex Edler – pointless in six and Jason Garrison – pointless in 12 – Ugh! The Canucks are really struggling to get any offense going.

Roberto Luongo has a 1.99 GAA and .920 save percentage in his last two games but has not won over that span. Eddie Lack has the exact same numbers and has just a 1-2-0 record in his last three. The defense clearly isn’t the problem – the offense is.

A few trends to consider:

• FLA are 17-46 in their last 63 road games.
• FLA are 16-43 in their last 59 overall.
• Under is 8-3-1 in FLA last 12 Tue. games.
• Under is 8-2-1 in VAN last 11 overall.
• Under is 6-2-2 in VAN last 10 Tue. games.
• Under is 17-6-3 in VAN last 26 home games.
• FLA are 2-8-2 in the last 12 meetings.
• Under is 6-2-1 in the last 9 meetings in Vancouver.

On paper, this should be an easy win for the Vancouver Canucks. But Vancouver is a .500 team at home. With the Panthers playing their best hockey this season; this may be an opportunity to play the big underdog. Vancouver isn’t playing that well folk – the Panthers are.

Pick: Florida Panthers +186
