The battle of California moves back to Los Angeles on Monday for what is shaping up as a very intriguing Game 6. The Kings have hung around against the potent Sharks thanks to the play of goaltender Jonathan Quick. It is feast or famine for Quick – his incredible 51 saves in Game 5 was preceded by two games in which he gave up six goals in each.

Like Jonathan Quick, the San Jose offense has been feast or famine. In their three wins in the series they have scored 15 goals – in their two losses they have one! They still looked dangerous in Game 5 so don’t expect different in Game 6.

The Sharks suddenly have some major goaltending issues. Antti Niemi has been pulled in two straight games and Antero Niittymaki has looked OK. But their tandem looks far from a pair that can take the Sharks to the Cup. Apparently Niemi will start – God knows why!

Give the Kings credit – they have hung around against a good team. Surprisingly it has been LA’s role players that have led the way offensively. Kyle Clifford and Brad Richardson lead the team in points and have given the Kings two potent lines. Dustin Penner lives!

For the Kings the X-factor is Jonathan Quick. He looked miraculous in Game 5 but in Games three and four he looked shell shocked. His team is doing enough to win but Quick has to shut the door.

NHL Betting Trends:
Over is 9-1-1 in SJ last 11 road games.
Over is 12-4-2 in SJ last 18 overall.
SJ are 22-8 in their last 30 Mon. games.
LA are 2-6 in their last 8 Mon. games.
Under is 11-4-2 in LA last 17 overall.
Under is 15-7-3 in LA last 25 vs. Pacific.
SJ are 18-7 in the last 25 meetings in Los Angeles.
SJ are 35-17-1 in the last 53 meetings.

Betting Prediction: If the Sharks had any semblance of goaltending stability this would be an easy call but with Niemi looking like a disaster anything can happen here. But despite the loss in Game 5, the Sharks did outshoot the Kings 52-22. The Sharks are simply the better team and have already beaten the Kings twice these playoffs. I like them to end the series on Monday.

Pick: San Jose Sharks -135
