Avalanche vs. Sharks Preview – Series tied 2-2

What are the chances that Craig Anderson gets in a car accident on the way to the rink on Thursday night? San Jose Sharks fans are hoping that the odds are good. The San Jose Sharks will be looking for their first lead in the series on Thursday night when they take on the pesky Colorado Avalanche at home.

The Avs are proving to be a much more difficult challenge for the perennial regular season studs, the San Jose Sharks.

The Colorado Avalanche will be without Peter Meuller and Milan Hejduk once again on Thursday night, leaving a huge void in the offensive might of the league’s sixth ranked offensive team. Names like Chris Stewart, Brandon Yip and Matt Duchene are going to have to shoulder the offensive load, be aggressive and generate the necessary offense.

These players have been good in the series but it would be nice to see a little more secondary scoring from the Avalanche team.

The Avs are going to have to give a little more support to their goaltender, obviously. Craig Anderson has faced 148 shots in his last three games, an insane amount of pressure on one man. He has stood up so far but his exhaustive play will catch up to him at some point in time.

The San Jose Sharks are at home on even terms and that’s a good thing. With a little luck, they could be home looking for the series win!

They are getting the shots on goal but they are unable to convert. If you don’t score you don’t win – just look at the 51 shot effort in Game 3.

The San Jose Sharks appear to be a sleeping giant right now. They are even in the series and their best players have been brutal.

Joe Thornton, Dany Heatley and Patrick Marleau have combined for four points in the four games.

If they wake up watch out! The second line of Pavelski, Clowe and Setoguchi has been far more effective than the big boys.

Evgeni Nabokov has been playing very well in the Sharks net and the defense in front of him has also been good.

A Game 2 score-fest was the only game in which the defense was out of sync. The Sharks are still the better team, particularly with Hejduk and Meuller on the sidelines for the Avs.
