I admit that I didn’t see the Game 2 result coming. After winning Game 1 in overtime the San Jose Sharks were absolutely swarmed in Game 2 by the Los Angeles Kings. A 4-0 win has stolen home ice advantage away from the Sharks – now they know they are in a fight.
The San Jose Sharks never seemed to get anything going in Game 2 – they were ho-hum and it cost them the game. San Jose is a much better team than the one that showed up in the last game. A lethal power play went 0 for 5 on the night – proving that it wasn’t their night.
For Antti Niemi, he may just take a Game 2 mulligan along with the rest of his team. He is a much better goaltender that he showed and should bounce back in Game 3.
The Kings have been playing the Sharks tough so far in the series – nothing is coming easy to San Jose and that’s they was that the Kings would like to keep it. They will get Jaret Stoll back from his one game suspension making them better than the team that won on Saturday.
Defense play is what could set the Kings apart in this series. Drew Doughty is officially in the elite class of NHL defensemen. He scored twice and added two assists in Game 2 and he carried his team. His mate Jack Johnson has been very good and Jonathan Quick has been sensational – not too much to dislike!
