Minnesota Wild

The Wild had been one of the hottest teams in the NHL. The Wild had won four straight games and had earned a point for every game in November (8 games). But, on Tuesday night in Montreal, all that came to a screeching halt as the Canadiens scored five unanswered goals to defeat the Wild 6-2.

The first game this season where the Wild have given up six goals in a game.

The interesting part about this game was goaltender Josh Harding, who has been fantastic this season, was pulled. after giving up three goals. In relief, Darcy Kuemper didn’t fair any better as he gave up three goals on nine shots against Montreal.

It’ll be interesting to see who the Wild start, but if it isn’t Harding, that’s a big advantage for the Senators.

Ottawa Senators

While who starts in front of the net for Wild remains up in the air, the Senators will be starting Craig Anderson Wednesday night. While Anderson has struggled this season, Anderson still is a very quality goalie.

Anderson is one of these players where he can get on a streak of giving up a 1.50 GAA and the team reels off a few wins in a row.

On the offensive side, Erik Karlsson has come off that devastating achilles injury and has bounced back with yet another stellar year thus far. Karlsson has 21 points, 14 assists, and 7 goals. And of late Karlsson has a three game point streak and has had at least a point in four of the last five games as well.

Karlsson is a big time player and in this game where the Senators need to bounce back, he may step up and have a big game.

Danny’s FREE NHL Pick:

This is a tough to handicap as both teams played back-to-back games and both teams were blown out. I believe in this game, though, playing on home ice and with ace goaltender Craig Anderson starting in front of the net Wednesday night gives the Senators the advantage.

We will see exactly how the Wild react, it’ll be very interesting to see if they come out flat after a blow out loss, or if they give an effort on the road.

We’ll see what happens, but I believe Ottawa takes this. Again, Craig Anderson will start, Ottawa will have the home ice advantage, and the Senators really need this game. They can’t let the Detroit Red Wings, and the Canadiens, to get to far ahead.

The Senators will have to start winning some games, and I think they snap their two game losing streak on home ice versus the Wild.

Pick: Ottawa Senators -125
