The last time both these teams played it was an entertaining high scoring affair with the Anaheim Ducks coming out on top 6-3 a month ago. I’m anticipating something similar happening in this game. The Ducks score a lot of goals, 3.04 goals a game, which is good for 6th in the NHL, and for the month of November they’ve averaged exactly 3 goals a game.

Defensively, the Ducks have been solid this month giving up 2.41 goals a game. But, looking ahead, and possibly in this game, their GAA may go up. Viktor Fasth, a very valuable back up goalie for the Ducks, is expected to miss 3-4 weeks.
In the last 5 games, the Ducks are 2-1-2, scoring only 11 goals in that time span, but in their last game they put up 4 goals against the very solid Phoenix Coyotes on the road. In this same time span, the Ducks have allowed 2.40 goals a game.
The Dallas Stars, meanwhile, are averaging exactly 3 goals a game as well. On the defensive side, the Stars are giving up 2.90 goals a game for the month.

Of late, the Stars are 3-2 in their last five games keeping up their average of three goals a game, but beware in this time span they’ve been a bit inconsistent. In this time span, they’ve scored seven goals in one game, and only one goal in the other. Overall, though, they should be good for at least a couple of goals in this game.
Defensively, they’ve allowed 2.40 goals a game in this time span as well, but again, this can be a bit deceiving. They pitched a shut out versus the Edmonton Oilers, but gave up 3 goals to the Calgary Flames. Expect, the Ducks to put a few pucks in the back of the net.
Betting Prediction
I believe the best pick is the Anaheim Ducks. Whenever you can get a team like the Ducks at plus money, I believe you have to take it. Also, I like the over as well. The Ducks are a very good offensive team. The Ducks, as mentioned above, rank 6th in the NHL with 3.04 goals per game; while the Stars give up the 9th most goals in the NHL. The Stars are allowing 2.91 goals per game.
On the flip side, the Ducks defense and the Stars offense aren’t great, but they aren’t bad either. They are middle of the pack in that regard. The Ducks allow 2.42 goals a game, while the Stars score 2.64 goals per game.
So, I say, look for a little bit of offense in this game. Not only do I think it goes over, but the value is there; the over is plus money. So, again, I like the Ducks and I like the over. Both are good plays, and both are value plays.
