Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday night got smacked around by the Chicago Blackhawks and are looking to quickly bounce back and end this three game skid.

We talked about the Flyers last night when breaking down their game versus the Chicago Blackhawks. The Flyers all season long have been very good on the defensive end.

Their defense is what has kept them in the thick of it for the playoffs in the Eastern Conference. But, of late, it’s been horrible and it continues to struggle. In their last three games the Flyers have given up a total of 13 goals.

On the bright side, in those three games the Flyers had to face the number 1 team in terms of goals per game (Chicago Blackhawks), the number 8 team (Ottawa Senators), and the number 10 team (Dallas Stars). Coming into this game the Canadiens only score 2.59 goals per game which is 17th in the NHL.

Aside from the Kings game, the Canadiens had been one of the hottest teams in the NHL. In their last 11 games they have won 9 of those games. And in their last 15 games the Canadiens have held their opponents to under two goals or less in 12 of those games.

For the season, the Montreal Canadiens are third in the NHL in terms of goals per game. They’ve only allowed 2.12 goals per game and going up against the 4th worst team in terms of scoring goals per game, I like Montreal’s chances of keeping the Flyers under 2 goals in this game.

Danny’s FREE NHL Pick:

All in all, I like the under. Straight up doesn’t look too appetizing on either side, so, we turn to the over/under and as I mentioned I like the under. The Canadiens are coming off an embarrassing loss at home to the Los Angeles Kings and they don’t want a losing streak to snowball.

While the Flyers are playing back-to-back games and in the middle of a three game losing streak. Both teams need wins.

I’m looking for both teams to play at a high level. I think it’ll be a close game and both teams will be on point. With that said, I like the defense in this one. When you have two defensive minded teams I believe that will prevail.

The Flyers do worry me a bit since they have been struggling on defense, but in this game I think they will sort it out against a team that doesn’t score at a high rate.

All in all, I like the under. I like the under at 5, I believe that is the best pick and it is a good value pick as well. At the moment, it’s sitting at even money.

Pick: Under 5 (+100)
