The Pittsburgh Penguins continue to thrive despite a rash of injuries while the Rangers continue to underachieve.
New York will be eager to avenge a 3-2 loss in Saturday against Detroit in a game that they held a 2-0 lead and the Pens will be out to build on a 3-2 win at Ottawa also on Saturday.

Nothing seems to be affecting the Pittsburgh Penguins – their depth has been tested and has passed with flying colors as of late.
Despite injuries to Chris Kunitz (foot), Pascal Dupuis (blood clot), Beau Bennett (lower body) and Patric Hornqvist, the team has gone 6-3-1 in their last 10 games – three points back of top spot in the NHL with three games in hand on the league-leading Anaheim Ducks.
Pittsburgh keeps getting it done with offense – despite getting shut out two games back they are still averaging 3.19 goals per game. It has been the starts that have shone. Evgeni Malkin leads the team with 14 goals, while Sidney Crosby has 25 assists.
The Pens offense gets a crack at a defense that has allowed an uncharacteristic 2.76 goals per game this year and have looked just OK lately.
Marc-Andre Fleury will be between the pipes on Monday – he has had his issues with the Rangers this year – he has allowed seven goals in 66 games against the Rangers this year but is 2-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA and .966 save percentage in his last two starts however.

The New York Rangers will be happy to see a Metropolitan Division opponent – they are 6-2-1 this season against Divisional foes. But their character has been questioned lately as they have gone 4-4-2 in their last 10 games overall and are coming off a game in which they controlled but still lost.
Don`t blame Rick Nash for New York`s recent woes – he has 17 goals on the season and has five goals and three assists during a seven game scoring streak. Jesper Fast and Kevin Klein each have three points in three games, Carl Hagelin has two points in two games and Ryan McDonagh has three points in his last four games.
Mats Zuccarello is pointless in four games however and Dan Girardi hasn`t recorded a point in his last eight.
The Rangers go as Henrik Lundqvist goes. He has given up a career worst 2.70 goals against average this year and is 1-1-0 with a 3.56 GAA and .837 GAA in his last two starts – yuk!

The good news is that he has looked good against Pittsburgh this year allowing just two regulation goals in his two starts against the Pens this year while facing 71 shots over that span.
