The Vancouver Canucks will get their second big test of the young season Tuesday night when they head to Dallas to take on a Stars team that is poised to take the next step this season. Both teams will be looking to bounce back after losses Saturday – for the Canucks it was a 4-2 home defeat at the hands of the Lightning while the Stars – they lost 6-5 in Overtime to the Flyers in a game that they led heading into the third period.

The Vancouver Canucks already look like a far different team that stumbled down the stretch last season and finished outside of the playoffs. The line of Daniel Sedin, Henrik Sedin and Radim Vrbata have been terrific thus far combining for 18 points in their four games so far. Vrbata is proving to be the difference maker – he has three goals already and is that piece on the Sedin line that the Canucks have been missing since Anson Carter.
All together the Canucks are averaging 3.00 goals per game. Keep in mind however that two of Vancouver’s four games have come against arguably the worst defensive team in the NHL – Edmonton. The Canucks get a crack at a Dallas defense that has allowed 3.20 goals per game so far and is coming off six goals allowed against Philadelphia Saturday.
Ryan Miller should be back between the pipes after Eddie Lack allowed four goals against Tampa. Miller is 3-0-0 this young season with a terrific 1.95 GAA and .927 save percentage.

The Dallas Stars have already proven that they can and will score goals this year. The problem has been defense and goaltending. Kari Lehtonen didn’t look great Saturday – six goals on 36 shots but should get another start Tuesday. Lehtonen will be key on Tuesday – all he has to do is hold his team in games and let his offense do the rest.
Tyler Seguin has four goals and four assists in five games so far, Jason Spezza scored his first goal against Philadelphia and has six assists on the season, Jamie Benn has three goals and three assists and Trevor Daley has three goals and two assists in Dallas’s five games. Some help from Shawn Horcoff, Ales Hemsky and Erik Cole would be nice – each have just one assist each this year.
Trevor Daley had a pair of goals Saturday, Jamie Benn and Erik Cole also scored while Jason Spezza added a goal and three assists in the loss with Tyler Sequin adding four assists. Offense shouldn’t be a problem Saturday – it’s a matter of whether or not Kari Lehtonen can bounce back off an ugly outing.
