The Hawks have done traditionally well in their Western road swings – they were 6-1-0 last year during the “circus trip” in which the Circus invades Chicago and they have started this year 3-1-0 during their foray out West. Chicago will be running into a hot Anaheim team however – one that has won three straight and has picked up nine points in their last 10 games.

The Blackhawks have had some troubling stretches so far this year but have certainly looked as though they are rounding into form as we approach December. Their numbers still resemble one of an average team but that should change sooner than later. The Hawks are averaging 2.86 goals per game so far and are surrendering a very respectable 2.09.
Patrick Kane has shrugged off a slow start to the season and now has 10 points in his last five games, Marian Hossa has five points in three games, Kris Versteeg has seven in five and defensemen Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook are each averaging a point per game over the last five.
The power play has tallied in six straight games and the penalty kill is one of the best in the league right now – 90.6%.
All that is missing now is the consistent results and with the numbers mentioned those results are coming and coming fast.

Corey Crawford will get the start in net – he has been terrific this year. He is just 7-5 in his last 12 starts but has a good 2.09 goals against average over that span and is 7-4-1 against Anaheim in his career.
The Anaheim Ducks meanwhile have overcome viral infections, long road trips and retirements but are still tied atop the NHL overall standings – amazing! They have gained a point in 10 of their last 11 games and have won three straight heading into Friday`s game.
The offensive numbers aren`t where you would think for the Western power – they average just 2.61 goals per game.
Matt Beleskey has led the way offensively – three goals and an assist in his last four games, Patrick Maroon has three points in three games, Sami Vatanen has five points in his last four games and Kyle Palmieri has two points in his last two games.
Conspicuously absent from the Hot List are Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry who may not be lighting up the scoreboard but are making a difference each and every shift!
Defensively the Ducks have been a handful for all of their opposition this year – they allow 2.30 goals per game.

Frederik Andersen has been terrific – he has two shutouts in his last six starts and over his last two appearances is 2-0-0 with a 1.50 GAA and .951 save percentage.

The Ducks have won six of the last eight meetings between the teams and the Hawks have won just six times in their last 29 trips to the Duck pond. Look for those trends to continue Friday.
