San Jose: 31-10-8

The Flames are bleeding. Badly. They’ve dropped four straight and six of seven. As I’ve said repeatedly over the last few weeks, Miikka Kiprusoff hasn’t been the problem. The problem is that Calgary has scored two or fewer goals in five of its last seven games. Jarome Iginla still can’t shake his goal-scoring slump, which has reached an alarming eight games. While it’s easy to defend Calgary’s decision to spend money on defense and coaching in the offseason, there’s no question that the Flames miss Mike Cammalleri’s scoring touch.

The Sharks are back on track after stumbling a bit early this month. Sports Betting at the Sportsbook For most of the year, they’ve done their damage through their offense, and NHL goal-scoring leader Patrick Marleau continues to find twine. But, with Joe Thornton and Dany Heatley cooling off slightly of late, the Sharks’ “D” and goaltending has taken over. San Jose has held opponents to two goals or less in four straight games. Evgeni Nabokov has been consistent and may be on track for a career statistical year.

The Flames won the first meeting between these two teams this season but they’re not in a good place right now, struggling to score and facing a defensive juggernaut on the road. The Sharks seem like a solid play tonight.

San Jose has a clear advantage in this one, as I agree that Calgary has been struggling to get the puck in the net. It will be hard for the Flames to break out of their slump against teams like the Sharks with the way they have been playing lately.
