Team records:
New Jersey: 34-15-1
Ottawa: 28-21-4

Tonight, 7:30 p.m. ET
Sportsbook odds: Devils -110, Senators -110

How about those suddenly stingy Ottawa Senators? After losing five straight earlier this month, they’ve rattled off six straight victories. Riding Brian Elliott’s hot goaltending, they’ve allowed just seven goals over that span. Daniel Alfredsson’s return from injury has also jump started the offense, as has the emerging Peter Regin, who has five points and some highlight-reel efforts in his last three games.

The Sens will really find out how hot they are this week when they meet the Devils and Penguins. Is it possible Jacques Lemaire’s shutdown system is starting to backfire on New Jersey ever so slightly? Sports Betting at the Sportsbook Martin Brodeur is still a man possessed in goal but the Devils have lost four of six and scored only 11 goals during that slump.

Now 18-8-3 at Scotiabank Place, the Sens lead the Eastern Conference in home victories. We should probably ride them while they’re hot tonight. Also consider that the Devils play Buffalo tomorrow night and could (a) rest Martin Brodeur in Ottawa and (b) look past the Sens.

Ottawa has ceratinly reversed their fortunes from a couple of weeks ago and carry a lot of monemtum into this game. I look for Martin Broduer however to be the difference in this one, playing well enough to shut down the Senators and give New Jersey the win.
