Wednesday’s meeting between the Canucks and the Red Wings has all the makings of a pretty good game. Both teams are considered in the upper echelon of NHL team and both are looking to flex some muscle during the final six weeks of the NHL regular season.

The Vancouver Canucks have now completed 9 games of their epic 16 game road trip and have gone a respectable 5-4 over that span. They were lucky to escape Columbus with a win on Tuesday night but a win is a win.

The Canucks have finally found that secondary scoring that is so badly needed for a team’s success in the playoffs. The return of Pavol Demitra from injury has really solidified the Top two lines and has dropped some offensive talent to help out with the third line as well. Vancouver is playing solid but unspectacular hockey but is still getting the job done on the road. The true Canucks will emerge when they return home sometime in 2011!

The Sedins and Roberto Luongo have been getting all of the press in Vancouver and rightfully so. But it has been the play of players such as Ryan Kessler, Alex Burroughs, Mikael Samuelson and Mason Raymond that has been the difference for the Canucks.

If the Sedins have an off night, there are players to pick up the slack. Vancouver is a good club and with the return of Roberto Luongo from the Olympics on Wednesday night, only makes them better.
The Detroit Red Wings have been underachieving all year and then a funny thing happened. They got healthy! Injuries to Henrik Zetterberg, Brian Rafalski, Tomas Holmstrom and Johan Franzen at various times of the year have really hurt this club. Now healthy, the Red Wings seem poised to make some noise in the Western Conference standings. Sports Betting at the Sportsbook

The Red Wings finally leap- frogged themselves into eighth place in the Western Conference with their impressive win, on the road in Colorado on Monday night. Now they will be looking to keep climbing the ladder and gain a better position for the impending playoff push. The Wings play five of their next six games at home which is a recipe for success.

I like the Wings to prevail in this game and continue to build on their modest two game winning streak. Watch out for the Wings, they could do some damage down the stretch.
