Who’s left to create offense for the Boston Bruins? Phil Kessel plays for Toronto; Marc Savard and Patrice Bergeron both went down with injuries last week. Trigger men like Blake Wheeler and Michael Ryder remain in the lineup but may have tough times ahead with the team’s best playmaking forwards on the shelf. It’s no wonder the Bruins have lost three of four and scored two or fewer goals in all but one game this month.
They’re catching the Ducks at the wrong time, as Anaheim is finally heating up, having won four straight games. Swiss netminder Jonas Hiller is staking his claim to the starting job once again, going 4-1-0 with a 1.61 goals against average and .952 save percentage in January.
Corey Perry is finding his touch and has a four-game point streak going.
It remains to be seen if the Ducks can stay hot and sneak into the playoffs the way they did last year, but they have three very talented forwards in Perry, Getzlaf and Bobby Ryan. Boston can’t counter with even one player of that caliber up front.
I don’t think the Ducks will have much trouble at all tonight.
