5 Teams’ Futures Odds to Bet on for the 2016 Stanley Cup

Free NHL Betting: Stanley Cup Futures

They are still cleaning up the confetti from the Stanley Cup Parade in Chicago – what a party indeed! But it is never too early to start thinking about next year and which team will be trying to one-up the festivities in the Windy City.

Bet on NHL Hockey!

Bodog has released the odds to hoist Hockey’s Holy Grail in 2016 with some obvious favorites already emerging.

So which teams can be trusted to make a run next year? Which teams are worth an early investment? Let’s take a look at five such teams and why they are worthy of your time – note that Chicago isn’t on my list!

New York Rangers 8/1 – There won’t be a hungrier team next year. After going to the Conference Final two straight years with nothing to show for it, expect the Rangers to be that hungry team that takes the lessons they’ve learned and to grow because of them.

The Rangers will have arguably the best keeper in the game – King Henrik back and will still trot out one of the best defensive corps. in the NHL. Ricks Nash and Martin St. Louis’s futures with the team are in some doubt but their departure due to a lack of effectiveness during their recent playoff runs could turn out to be a good thing for the Broadway Blueshirts.

The Rangers will contend once again – almost guaranteed!

Anaheim Ducks 10/1– Just like the Rangers the Ducks will be in the mix next year. Their team looks Tailor-made for playoff type hockey. They are big, they are fast and they are tough – something required for the grind of a long playoff run. The strides that Frederik Andersen took as a goaltender haven’t gone unnoticed – the Ducks will enter 2015-2016 with as complete a team as there is in the West.

Anaheim, with Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf on the first line and Ryan Kesler anchoring the second line to go along with a solid defense that boasts manes like Cam Fowler, Hampus Lindholm, Sami Vatanen and Simon Despres and dependable goaltending make the Ducks my favorite to win the West next year.

Tampa Bay Lightning 12/1– you gotta love how far the Tampa Bay Lightning came this year. Playoff experience is all that this team was lacking and now they have it in spades. They also have the knowledge that they can overcome adversity (Tyler Johnson’s broken wrist and Ben Bishop’s torn groin) and can make a run. Steven Stamkos and Victor Hedman are two of the most exciting young players in the league and make the Lightning a very intriguing 12/1 to win it all. Once Jonathan Drouin finds his way, the Lightning will be a force for sure.

Los Angeles Kings 14/1 – It’s hard to believe that the Kings missed the playoffs – but there is a silver lining – they got some much-needed rest unlike the other Western Conference powerhouses. To expect another down season from a team that has Jonathan Quick between the pipes, Drew Doughty on defense and names like Kopitar, Carter, Toffoli and Pearson up front is unrealistic.

The Kings will be back in full force this season – rested and ready to reclaim their spot on to of the heap. Simply put, LA is too good not to contend and too proud not to make a serious run next year.

Nashville Predators 16/1 – The Nashville Predators may be that team that surprises everyone next year although their success will hardly be a surprise. Pekka Rinne is still one of the best keepers in the game, the Preds defense is insane with Shea Weber, Roman Josi and Seth Jones manning the blue line and exciting talent up front makes Nashville a team to watch.

With Coach Peter Laviolette getting absolutely everything from his team and with the emergence of names like Filip Forsberg, Nashville will be an interesting team to watch next year. Are you a gambling man? Nashville may be the team that brings you a very nice return.
