NFL Sunday Betting Re-Cap – Giants Solidify Themselves as Best in the NFC

The New York Giants became the best team in the NFL this past Sunday for NFL betting fans when they beat the pre-season NFC East favorite, Dallas Cowboys, by a commanding score of 35 to 14. For sports betting fans, it doesn’t get any crazier than that. One pre-season favorite falls to the defending Super Bowl champion by a margin that nobody expected? Such is life in the NFL for a football betting fan.

We’ll start with the Cowboys in our Sunday Re-cap.

Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants – – The online betting spread was a fantastic Dallas + 8. Even with their second-string quarterback a lot of NFL betting fans felt that the Cowboys were going to keep pace with the Giants in this. That definitely wasn’t the case as the Giants dominated the ‘Boys from beginning to end with the best running game and one of the best defenses in the NFL. The Giants are better this year than they were last year. The rest of the NFC is sorting itself out. But at this point the Giants are easily the best team in the NFL.

Green Bay Packers vs. Tennessee Titans – – The online NFL odds settled to somewhere around 4 to 4 ½ in favor of the Titans. This one was exceptionally close. One could look at how the game ended and figure that the Packers actually had a chance to win the game straight-up. They did, but in the end the Titans resiliency is what carried them in this one. Still, both the Packers and Titans are good enough to make their presence felt from here until the end of the NFL season.

Miami Dolphins vs. Denver Broncos – – The Broncos, coming off of a bye, were big enough favorites in this, at least 5 points, for NFL betting fans to wonder if they were just going to come out and absolutely dominate the Dolphins. It didn’t get close to that point as the Fins stuck with the Broncos long enough to take them down 25 to 16. The Dolphins have a chance to make the playoffs in the less than exceptional AFC Conference. That would be some turnaround.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Seattle Seahawks – – Online wagering fans had to be wondering exactly what the deal was about the Eagles being such heavy favorites versus the Seahawks on the road, right? First, the Eagles didn’t end up heavy favorites. By the time they kicked off, the Eagles were only around 5 ½ point favorites against a team that they obviously outclassed on almost every level. The Eagles started slow, but then got it going beating the Seahawks 26 to 7.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Oakland Raiders – – This might have been the online bet of the day for NFL betting fans as the Falcons were only giving up 3 to 3 ½ points in this one. If there was a team that the Raiders had a chance to beat it was the Atlanta Falcons. But the Falcons proved that they are every bit the improved team that everybody believes they are taking it to the Raiders 24 to 0.

Houston Texans vs. Minnesota Vikings – – This one was a bit of a surprise. The Texans defense gave up some serious yardage to Adrian Peterson and the Vikings got back to four and four. Because they play in the NFC North, the Vikings actually have a chance to make the playoffs. The Vikings were favored by 4 ½ at kick-off and had no problem covering that spread by beating the Texans, who made a furious rally just to get back into this, 28 to 21. Could the Vikings suddenly become a force in the NFC? With the Cowboys reeling and the Bears and Packers not dominating, yes, the Vikings can.

New York Jets vs. Buffalo Bills – – Brett Favre has been terrible but the Jets keep winning. I’m not sure what’s going on here. The Bills were favorites at home, by 6 ½ points, but the Jets are the team that came up and won this game. Even with Brett throwing interceptions, for some reason, the Jets can pull out victories. Well, they jut pulled one out versus a serious contender for the AFC Conference crown. Now, that’s crazy.

Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears – – Now, here’s a crazy one. The Lions score 23 points in the second quarter of their game versus the Bears on Sunday, but the Bears, for some crazy reason, end up winning with Rex Grossman! Rex Grossman! That’s how nutty of a year it’s been for the Lions. Even when a game is virtually handed to them, the Lions find a way to absolutely blow it. Such is the state of the Detroit Lions’ franchise for, oh, twenty years, now? The online betting spread was much higher than the four points that the Bears won by, but for Chicago a win is a win.
