The Green Bay Packers were sent back home from Minnesota with plenty to think about. I still can’t get that gloomy face of Aaron Rodgers out of my head. You look at guys like Matt Hasselbeck, Brett Favre, Shaun Hill and Chad Henne and you can feel the fire in their eyes. With Rodgers, he looks like he’s plotting some devious federal offense while plodding the offense out of a 3-and-out.

With double-digits from the oddsmakers, the Packers have a tough test that will prove whether or not they can protect your betting dollar. Thus far, they haven’t.
Detroit is 6-2 ATS on the road, but the oddsmakers have been anything but kind to them in Green Bay. [soliloquy id=”82219″] They’re winless in their last five games against their division foes, and have gone just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games against Green Bay. With a 4-12-2 ATS record over the last 18 game against Green Bay, it’s hard to imagine the Packers doing anything but covering the spread against Daunte Culpepper.

With Matt Stafford healthy, and Calvin Johnson on the field, the Lions would be dangerous in this game. But the spread is moving up from its original -11.5 in favor of the Packers because of Daunte Culpepper. If the fans in Oakland want to know what JaMarcus Russell is going to look like in five years, look no further than Culpepper. While he led a spread busting comeback against Pittsburgh last weekend in the fourth quarter, Pittsburgh’s defense didn’t give a damn at all so it counted for nothing.
Green Bay is 6-4 ATS in their last 10 games against Detroit Lions, and with vengeance on their minds and an itch to prove that they belong in the playoff hunt, making an example out of the pitiful Lions is a necessary evil. They’ve had two weeks to prepare for this game, so if they fail you on the betting line, then I say they’re done for the season. But that’s not going to happen.
