Week 6 Wagering Review

Week Six in NFL wagering Sunday is in the books, so let’s get to the highlights! We cover home favorites making good against the spread, as well as look indepth at all NFL week 6 games.

Rams Upset Skins and Cowboys Fall

What a Sunday in the NFL! Four games, count them, four were decided by three points or less this past Sunday. It was a day for online betting underdogs as some of the most talked about teams in the NFL fell to some of the more underrated squads in the league.

One of the upsets was downright daring as the Washington Redskins, easily one of the most reliable online wagering options in the NFL so far this season, fell to the previously winless St. Louis Rams.

Let’s recap that game as well as some of the others this past Sunday in the NFL!

Washington Redskins – 13 ½ lose to the St. Louis Rams. The BetUS online sportsbook money line on this game was a staggering + 600. The Rams came through. How did they do it? St. Louis scored thirteen points on special teams and six by their defense. Yes, they beat the Redskins straight-up without scoring a single point on offense. Of course, the Skins committed three turnovers.

Arizona Cardinals + 6 beat the Dallas Cowboys straight-up. The BetUS online sportsbook money line on this game was Cardinals + 190. This was one of the few games I got right this past Sunday as I believed strongly that the Cowboys were due for a fall. The Cardinals almost gave it up when coach Ken Wisenhunt called a time out before Nick Folk, the ‘Boys’ kicker, got a field goal blocked. Folk made it the second time around and took the game into overtime. Luckily for the Cardinals, the Cowboys offensive line has been missing assignments lately. They did so, Tony Romo fumbled, and the Cards ran in the fumble for the victory.

San Diego Chargers – 5 easily cover versus the New England Patriots. What a terrible game for the Pats. The Chargers dominated from beginning to end. The online betting line was only 5 points. I actually believed that the Patriots were back after their terrific game versus the San Francisco 49’ers a week ago. But I was wrong. The Chargers took it to the Pats and destroyed them by 20 points.

Miami Dolphins + 3 beat the spread but lose the game to the Houston Texans. Miami had this game. How do you give up a touchdown in the last second of the game to Matt Schaub who just a week earlier botched a somersault first down attempt and cost his team the game? By playing bad defense. That’s how. The Fins lost the game by a single point, 29 to 28.

Jacksonville Jaguars + 3 ½ expose the Denver Broncos by winning straight-up. The Jags were underdogs but maybe they shouldn’t have been. They beat the Broncos by a touchdown, 24 to 17, and showed football betting fans that the Broncos probably aren’t the best team in the AFC West this year. Maybe the Chargers are.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 1 ½ start Jeff Garcia and dominate the Carolina Panthers. The Bucs started Garcia at quarterback and just manhandled the Panthers. They beat them 27 to 3. I can’t believe how good this Bucs’ defense can be at times. With the victory the Bucs tied the Panthers for the lead in the NFC South.

Atlanta Falcons + 3 upset the Chicago Bears at home. What a crazy ending. The Bears march down the field and take the lead on a touchdown with 11 seconds left. Then the Falcons get the ball back on the ensuing kick-off and Matt Ryan tosses the ball 26 yards to Mike Jenkins with just enough time on the clock for Atlanta kicker Jason Elam to boot a 49 yard winner. Atlanta is now tied with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers for the top spot in the NFC South.

New Orleans Saints – 6 ½ dominate the Oakland Raiders at home. The last place team in the NFC South is only a game behind after absolutely destroying the Oakland Raiders in the Superdome. At half time the score was 10 to 3, Saints. Then Drew Brees got incredibly hot and the Saints ended up winning the game 34 to 3. How hot? Brees connected on 86.7 percent of his passes. That’s like Kobe Bryant in a game of Nerf basketball against an eighth grader.

Indianapolis Colts – 4 ½ make the Baltimore Ravens defense look silly. Maybe the Pats aren’t back but the Colts are. The Colts scored 31 points against that Ravens defense and won the game 31 to 3. Peyton Manning is finally looking like the Peyton of old. The Colts defense is finally starting to play well. The kicking game is getting into gear. Yes. I’d say the Colts are back.

Philadelphia Eagles – 5 beat the San Francisco 49’ers by 14 points on the road. The Eagles put up 40 against a 49’ers defense that should be better than this. After being ashamed all week, Donovan McNabb and the rest of the Eagles just went about their business and took it to the 49’ers. With the Cowboys and Skins both losing on Sunday, the Eagles are right back in the thick of the NFC East race. Oh, wait, the New York Giants are undefeated.

Green Bay Packers + 2 bounce back from three straight losses and beat the Seattle Seahawks on the road. The Pack needed to win after dropping three games in a row. They did so in style by beating Seattle 27 to 17 up in Seattle. The Seahawks are atrocious. There’s just no other way to write it. Aaron Rodgers is proving to be a decent quarterback after playing in this game with an injury.

New York Jets – 6 cover the spread versus the Cincinnati Bengals. That fella up in New York isn’t too bad either. Brett Favre has already thrown for 13 touchdown passes this year. Not only that but Thomas Jones finally got on track. The Jets’ running back scored three touchdowns in the Jets’ victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. The Jets are in charge in the AFC East.

Minnesota Vikings – 6 ½ fail to cover against the Detroit Lions. It took a pass interference call, a questionable one at that, for the Vikings to get a field goal off in the last few seconds of their game against the Lions to secure a victory. They only beat the Lions by two points, 12 to 10. The Viking did beat the Saints a week ago. So it’s not like the team is that awful. But the Lions are. Because St. Louis beat the Redskins, the Lions are officially the worst team in the NFL.
