NFL Game Day: G-Men host the Raiders
The Raiders continue to be the joke of the NFL, while the Giants continue to set the standard in the NFL. Talk about world’s colliding. In what was a definite romp, the Giants’ star quarterback, Eli Manning, has been sidelined by swelling in his foot and has watched David Carr take the majority of the first team snaps. The line hasn’t moved for this game, so the question is whether the Giants can cover without Manning.

The Giants are 19-5-1 ATS in their last 25 games, and are going to need Manning to be at his best when the playoffs begin to come around the corner towards the end of the season.
With an offense that has managed 145.5 yards on the ground against a rushing defense that gives up 146.3 (Oakland), the timing is set to unleash Brandon Jacobs in full force.
The question here is not whether or not David Carr can carry the Giants on his back. It’s actually whether you think Carr can be better than JaMarcus Russell. Considering how little we’ve seen of Carr this season, and last, I still am willing to give the former first overall pick the benefit of the doubt.

NFL Betting Line: NYG -14.5 (37.5)
Oakland will be without Darren McFadden, which means we’ll get to see Young Hugg (Justin Fargas) get the majority of the carries. Frankly, I don’t think that’ll matter too much. The Giants allow 117.3 yards on the ground and have been vindictive in red zone defense, allowing just 16.0 points overall per game.
So let’s break this down simply. David Carr is slightly better than Russell. Coughlin outclasses The Cable Guy in every way. The defense for the Giants is one of the best in the league and the Raiders give up 21.5 points per game. Even with the running game taking center stage for the Giants, I’m not willing to shy away from them as three-score favorites against the Raiders. That’s how pathetic I see Oakland as being.
