Week 4 Jets vs. Saints NFL Predictions

The New York Jets and the New Orleans Saints will both be gunning for a victory on Sunday when they meet at Louisiana Superdome. We preview and pick this week 4 game that has the Saints picked to win by 7.5…

Sunday Game Of The Day – New York Jets vs. New Orleans Saints

In the only battle of undefeated teams on Sunday, the Saints will host the Jets led by Dirty Sanchez. The best offense in the league will face the against the true number-one defense. The Jets and Bart Scott have allowed just 256.0 yards against total, while keeping teams in check with just 11.0 points allowed. They’ve managed these stats while playing explosive Texans, New England and Tennessee.

The one question in New York is the rushing game, where Thomas Jones has been held in check for 3.8 yards per carry and has just two touchdowns, both of which came in Week 1. After putting up the best season of any Jets running-back, while leading the AFC in 2008, Thomas Jones has vanished and Leon Washington has only faired slightly better. New Orleans Saints are a top rush-defense with just 67.0 yards against on the ground. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

With Pierre Thomas returning to the fold, the Saints will have a much more balanced offense, which is a terrifying thought. Pierre Thomas piled up 126-yards and two touchdowns, mostly coming in the fourth quarter, against Buffalo. Still, will one of the best teams in the NFC be able to hold a candle against a vaunted Jets team that has faced quality opponents every week and pulled wins out?

New York Jets (3-0) vs. New Orleans Saints (3-0)
Sunday, October 4 th — Superdome, New Orleans — 4:05pm EST
NFL Betting Line: New Orleans -7 (45)

The Jets are 4-2 ATS in their last 6 road games, but are just 6-12 SU overall in 18 away from home. They don’t have a deep history against New Orleans as this will be the first meeting between the two teams since 2005. New Orleans holds the edge in the NFL betting trends, going 5-1 SU and ATS in their last 6 at home.

Even if cornerback sensation Darrelle Revis is able to contain Marques Colston, the Saints have so many weapons on the field that they’re dangerous. However, Pierre Thomas choose a bad game to come back. The New York Jets defense overall may be the best it the league, and are led by a defensively minded coach who is not going to put Dirty Sanchez at risk. It’s easy to bet on the Saints because they have a veteran in Gentle Brees, and a returning PT Cruiser in the backfield, but the Jets are an AFC stalwart now and are ready to prove it.

One player who is going to continue to be a huge play maker for New York will be Kris Jenkins, who can easily get to Brees and force him in to making mistakes. This ravenous Jets defense can make you pay for rushed passes, and I smell a pick-6 sucking the life out of the Superdome in the first half.

As solid as the Saints have been against the betting line, they came out extremely flat against Buffalo, who only allowed New Orleans to pull away when they lost two starters in their secondary. The Jets defense will take center stage this week, giving Brees fits while the Jets squeak out a tight victory in the Sunday Game of the Day. With a big line to cover, and the Saints trying to prove they aren’t just an offensively-minded team that can beat up on weak teams (they played Philly without McNabb), I say they stumble as the Jets fulfill a promise to their betting backers.

I expect Drew Brees and the Saints’ offense to find a way to score some points on an overly aggressive Jet’s attack style defense. There are just too many people to account for, so somebody will always be open.
