NFL Week 14: Eagles vs. Giants Predictions

The division rival Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants are set to renew hostilities on Sunday when they meet at Giants Stadium. Oddsmakers currently have the Giants listed as 1-point favorites versus the Eagles, while the game’s total is sitting at 44½…

NFL Sunday Night Betting – Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants

This is a game with an intensely storied rivalry that’s only furthered by the last ten games, which the Eagles and Giants have evenly split with a 5-5 SU/ATS record. Philadelphia has strung together three big wins over second-tier teams, but New York managed to stifle the Dallas Cowboys last week and are now one game shy of tying for the division lead.

If Dallas can’t get past the San Diego Chargers, that means the AFC East could suddenly be handed over to the Eagles…or thrown in to a three-way makeout session between the Giants, Cowboys and Eagles. This game has huge ramifications on it, and the pressure has forced the oddsmakers to make it a pick ‘em.

Philadelphia has been burnt by injuries. DeSean Jackson and Brian Westbrook are both nursing concussions, and now Jeremy Maclin is missing practice due to a foot injury. Who the hell knows who’s going to show up for the Eagles on Sunday. No matter what, this game will have to be in Donavan McNabb’s hands. He’s piloted the Eagles to a 5-2 SU record in the last 7 games, and Philadelphia has travelled just fine with a 16-7 ATS record in 23 games away from home. Even better, the Eagles hold a 5-2 ATS advantage when playing on the road against the New York Giants. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

The Giants have been a miserable bet no matter where they play. A 1-6 ATS record over their past 7 has frustrated Giants betting maniacs to no end, and at home they’re just 2-4-1 ATS. To make matters even more difficult, the Giants have been impossibly difficult to figure out lately. Things got absurdly messy for them the first time they played the Eagles in Week 8 betting when they were run out of the building thanks to Eli’s two picks and McNabb throwing 240-yards and three touchdowns. Will it be more of the same for the Giants when they play host instead of visitor?

NFL Betting Line: PK (44.5)

There’s one side of me that says that the Eagles are on a three-game winning streak and the Giants are literally all over the map. But Andy Reid did something last week that simply has to have some sort of negative karma attached to it: he unleashed Michael Vick in to the endzone against the Falcons…in Atlanta. I roasted Reid for this move, because it’s just sickening for reasons that I shouldn’t even have to explain.

I’m also scared that the entire receiving corps of the Eagles has sustained injuries. Maclin and Jackson are probably to play, but a foot injury isn’t nominal for a speedster like Maclin, and concussions will make Jackson a target for big hits. Also, the rushing game for the Eagles has been rough and the Giants are ranked second in rush yards allowed with 64.3 rush yards against at home. Karma’s a bitch, and the Eagles are about to find that out a hard way.
