NFL Week 13: Patriots vs Dolphins Predictions

The New England Patriots and the Miami Dolphins will meet on the gridiron at Land Shark Stadium on Sunday in a battle of division rivals. Oddsmakers currently have the Patriots listed as 4-point favorites versus the Dolphins, while the game’s total is sitting at 46…

AFC East Betting – New England Patriots vs. Miami Dolphins

The Patriots are coming off a glaring loss to the New Orleans Saints, and in typical fashion they pulled their starts with about eight minutes to go in the fourth. Safe move? Probably. Absolutely classless? Definitely.

The Patriots are in solid control of the AFC East for now, but the Dolphins could be a serious spoiler, especially with a home game in hand this weekend. It will be up to Tom Brady and the Patriots to bounce back from the huge loss against the Saints, and Miami’s defense would love nothing more than to feast on the carcass of the Patriots.

The AFC East is not totally in the Patriots’ hands and they know that as they visit Miami. The Patriots and Brady slapped Miami with a 27-17 loss where the score seriously underscores Miami’s solid play in that game.

The Patriots are just 2-4 ATS when playing Miami overall, but they’ve been better for some reason when they play in South Beach. The Pats are 4-2 ATS when visiting the Dolphins, but a 1-4 SU record in their past five road games is scaring the living crap out of the New England online sports betting junkies.

Catching a Miami team that got blown apart by the Buffalo Bills is good timing for New England, but the Patriots simply can’t let this game slip away. They had all sorts of chances to hit Randy Moss and stay competitive last week, but Brady whiffed on those opportunities. Reconnecting with his favorite all-time target will be priority numero uno in Miami.

The Dolphins were supposed to win last weekend in Buffalo and put themselves in a reasonable position to challenge for the AFC East. Instead, they’re entering the toughest closing schedule of any team in the league.

They play the Patriots, Jaguars, Titans, Texans and Steelers in the final games of the year and that’s a gauntlet that no team could survive. If you think playing at home is going to be a serious advantage for the Dolphins, you’ve sourly ignored their 2-8 ATS record in their own house over the past ten home stands.

Both Chad Henne and Tom Brady are former Michigan Wolverines, but Henne was the better player in college. Of course, Brady has already secured a Hall of Fame entry in his somewhat young career, but the real indicator in this game will be if Henne can bounce back from a horrific performance against the Bills where he tallied three picks.

If the New Orleans Saints proved anything, it’s that passing on the Patriots is definitely possible. And that game didn’t serve as an exception to the rule. The Patriots rank just 26th in road passing defense with 258.4 yards allowed. The question is whether or not the lackluster bunch of receiving options that the Dolphins have will be able to come up with big catches. If this season has proved anything, it’s that the Miami receiving corps simply doesn’t have a viable weapon.

That’s why I’m siding with the Patriots despite them playing poorly against the betting line on the road. Brady and Belichik rarely lose two in a row, and a short week will do nothing to hinder a game plan against a defense that they face twice a year.

Bet the Patriots, but don’t be surprised if Miami puts up a decent fight. I’m just siding with the Patriots because I whole heartedly expect Brady-Moss to reconnect in the end zone after failing to do so last weekend.
