NFL Week 13 Betting – San Francisco 49ers at Buffalo Bills

The San Francisco 49ers (3-8 SU, 4-7 ATS) like to think they are making some competitive progress under interim coach Mike Singletary. On Sunday they will take their shot at the Buffalo Bills (6-5 SU, 5-6 ATS), off an unexpected offensive explosion, in NFL pro football sports betting action that is slated to begin at 1 PM ET at Ralph Wilson Stadium (artificial turf) in Orchard Park, NY.

NOTABLE STAT: San Francisco has allowed 28.2 points a game (29th in NFL)
KEY NFL FOOTBALL BETTING TREND: Niners have played six of their last seven over the total

In the BetUS Sportsbook football betting odds, the Bills are listed as a seven-point favorite, with a posted total of 42.5 points.

Here are some NFL football betting trends as they relate to this matchup:

* SF has covered two of its last eight games
* SF has lost seven of its last eight games SU
* SF has played six of its last seven games OVER the total
* SF has covered three of its last 12 road games
* SF has lost six of its last seven road games SU
* BUFF has lost four of its last five games SU
* BUFF has covered one of its last five games
* BUFF has covered 12 of its last 18 home games
* BUFF has covered two of its last six home games
* BUFF has played seven of its last nine home games OVER the total

The Niners figure they’re making progress with Mike Singletary at the helm, but this defense was burned by the Cowboys last week, as Tony Romo and Terrell Owens went wild. Speaking of going wild, that’s exactly what Trent Edwards and the Buffalo offense did against Kansas City, as they scored 54 points, which is the second highest total intheir 49-season history.

Edwards (273 passing yards) had two touchdown passes and two TD runs against the Chiefs, and the defense is producing points, as Leodis McKelvin, the rookie from Troy, returned an interception for a touchdown. McKelvin, if you recall, also brought back a kickoff the week before for a TD against Cleveland. The Bills needed that Kansas City win, as they are able to stay two games in back of the Jets and one back of New England in the hyper-competitive AFC East.

Wide receiver Josh Reed has come back to the lineup, and that has brought a nice balance, and Lee Evans responded to that with 110 yards through the air last week. Is this the “buy” sign for Buffalo? Well, we don’t know, but with the Niners’ penchant for giving up big plays, Buffalo should advance the ball. On San Francisco’s side, Frank Gore (860 yards, 4.5 ypc) could well give his team the edge at ruinning back, and Shawn Hill, despite throwing an interception last week, had 303 yards passing.

It’s interesting that Mike Singletary had gotten such a reputation for being a top-flight assistant before taking the head coaching reins on an interim basis, even though his stop unit has been subpar. We’ll look for San Francisco to continue its ongoing trend, and weather permitting, we’re going OVER the 42.5 points as it is posted in the BetUS NFL pro football betting odds.

Our PLAY: OVER 42.5 ***
