BetUS NFL betting odds: BUFFALO -3, Total 43.5

NOTABLE STAT: Kansas City is allowing 5.1 yards per rushing attempt
KEY NFL FOOTBALL BETTING TREND: Chiefs are 1-9 SU, 2-8 ATS in last ten at home

In the BetUS NFL football betting odds, the Bills are listed as a three-point road favorite, with a posted total of 43.5 points.

Here are some NFL football betting trends as they relate to this matchup:

* BUFF has covered one of its last six games
* BUFF has lost five of its last six games SU
* BUFF has lost five of its last seven road games SU
* BUFF has played six of its last eight road games UNDER the total
* KC has covered two of its last ten home games
* KC has lost nine of its last ten home games SU
* KC has played eight of its last 11 home games OVER the total

Also…

* BUFF has covered six of the last eight meetings
* The last six meetings have gone UNDER the total
* KC has covered four of the last six meetings as the home team
* KC has won five of the last six meetings SU as the home team
* The last five meetings in Kansas City have gone UNDER the total

Through necessity, the Chiefs have a quarterback of the present. But by accident, they may have found their quarterback of the future. It is not going to be Brodie Croyle, who went out with an injury and will likely be employed elsewhere next season. No, it’s Tyler Thigpen, who began the season as #3 on the depth chart but now finds himself the architect of an offense that has been re-designed to take advantage of some of his talents; namely the ability to scramble with the football. Kansas City is implementing a spread formation, like you see so many college teams using, and it does present something of a challenge for defensive coordinators.

Thigpen has thrown eight touchdown passes and only one interception in the last four games, so the experiment is something of a success. Now, if Herman Edwards’ team could only stop somebody….

We don’t really expect that to happen against the Bills, but Buffalo appears to have done a decent job of stopping itself recently. The Bills started the year with a 4-0 record but have won just one game since, and last year’s rookie standout, Trent Edwards, has proven to be inconsistent as a soph (8 TD’s, 10 INT’s). And Marshawn Lynch hasn’t improved much on his figures from last season (3.7 yards a carry). The Bills have given up 100 points over their last four games, and it is not their good fortune that Larry Johnson is not only back in the Kansas City lineup (67 yards rushing last week), but that he is also starting to take direct snaps in this new offensive alignment.

Ultimately, we think that Buffalo can exploit the weaknesses in a KC defensive front that has yielded more than five yards a rushing attempt. And without the departed Jared Allen around, the Chiefs’ pass rush has been non-existent (just SIX sacks). And even though they are playing with more spirit than expected, they’ve still found ways to lose the close games. Forget about the edge at Arrowhead – this team is 1-9 SU and 2-8 ATS in its last ten on “friendly” turf.

We think Buffalo is the team more likely to put forth the desperate effort, especially on the defensive side of the ball. We’ll lay the points with the Bills, the three-point favorite in the BetUS NFL pro football betting odds.

Our PLAY: BUFFALO -3 ***
