Wildcard Odds: Jets vs. Bengals

Oddsmakers currently have the Bengals listed as 3-point favorites versus the Jets, while the game’s total is sitting at 34. These two teams are evenly matched and this game could come down to who takes care of the football…

NY Jets @ Cincinnati Bengals

This game has all the makings fo a bit of a snoozer doesn’t it? Both teams strengths are running the ball and they will both do so extensively.  Similarly, both teams have good run defenses meaning that the punters could see a lot of action.

The New York Jets are a nice story – I guess!!! New coach, new rookie quarterback, and a supposedly over the hill running back making the playoffs. Mark Sanchez has one job – hand the ball off, and don’t make mistakes. That’s how the Jets have won most of their games this year and they will continue running this weekend. Jerricho Cotchery and Braylon Edwards might get their yards, but it will be the Thomas Jones/Shonne Greene show.
The New York Defense has been terrific this year.

Their job is to handle the running game which is something that they do very well. With Derrelle Revis haunting Chad Ochocinco this weekend, the Jets can afford a little more attention on the Bengal running game. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

The Cincinnati Bengal are the playoff team with least mojo. They enter the game kinda “ho hum”. Lets be perfectly honest – with the way that Carson Palmer is playing and the supposed injury to Ochocinco, there is not a whole lot to like in the Bengal passing game. Add in the Darrelle Revis factor, and its gonna be a long game for those hoping for a lot of dynamic passing plays.

That leaves it up to Cedric Benson – he’ll be the biggest factor in this matchup. If he flounders, the Bengal fail: If he flourishes, the Bengal fight another day.

The Bengal Defense also has one job. They know what the Jets are gonna do – run the ball. It had seemed that the Bengal Defense was pretty solid before being torched by the Jets last weekend. They are hit and miss for me.
The Bengal are a mess right now – I just can’t seem to get a good feel from them.

The Jets are hungrier and seem to be more well rounded.
