Free Week 8 NFL Totals Predictions

Its week Eight of the 2009 NFL season and we pick and preview all of the week 8 matchups from an OVER/Under NFL betting perspective this season…

NFL Week 8 Betting Preview

Last week was all about the favorite as only two teams that were getting points covered; Buffalo(+7) beat Carolina 20-9 and Arizona(+7) beat the Giants 24-17. The 49ers lost by three to the Texans as that game ended in a push. The over outpaced the under in the totals bets with seven games going over, five staying under, and one push; San Diego @ Kansas City with a 44 point total.

Here is a rundown of all this week’s games and the current lines as supplied by MySportsbook.com.

Sunday, Nov. 1st

(Byes: Cincinnati, Kansas City, New England, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, Washington)

Denver Broncos at Baltimore Ravens (-3.5)
Over/Under 41.5

Baltimore is trying to end a three game skid as well as hand Denver their first loss. Look for Baltimore’s defense to rise to the occasion and Joe Flacco having a big day. The Ravens and the OVER.

Houston Texans (-3.5) at Buffalo Bills
Over/Under 40.5

The Texans need to win this game to prove they are a playoff caliber team. Buffalo may be better off with Fitzpatrick at QB, but they still lose this game. The Texans and the UNDER.

Cleveland Browns at Chicago Bears (-14)
Over/Under 40

The Bears desperately need a win but they are not consistent enough to be giving two touchdowns to anybody, even Cleveland. The Browns and the UNDER.

Seattle Seahawks at Dallas Cowboys (-10)
Over/Under 45

Both these teams need a win to keep pace in their division, especially Seattle who is in danger of letting their season slip away so look for them to at least cover. The Seahawks and the UNDER

St. Louis Rams at Detroit Lions (NL)
Over/Under NL

There is currently no line on this game probably because the odds makers do not think either team will score and it will end up on 0-0 tie. No matter what take the UNDER.

Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers (-3)
Over/Under 47

As long as the Packers offensive line can keep Jared Allen off of Aaron Rodgers’ back, the Packers should find a way to even the score at home. The Packers and the OVER.

San Francisco 49ers at Indianapolis Colts (-12.5)
Over/Under 44.5

The Colts look unstoppable and the 49ers are starting to look like a team that has a ton of heart, but not enough talent. San Francisco is far too out matched in this one. The Colts and the OVER.

Miami Dolphins at New York Jets (-3.5)
Over/Under 40.5

At 2-4 a loss to the Jets would pretty much end their chance to repeat as AFC East Champions. This one will be close, probably a field goal either way. The Dolphins and the UNDER.

Oakland Raiders at San Diego Chargers (-17.5)
Over/Under 41.5

The Chargers have beaten the Raiders 12 times in a row and it looks like unlucky number 13 for the Silver and Black. Oakland salvages some pride by covering the spread. The Raiders and the OVER.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans (-3)
Over/Under 45

Titans owner, Bud Adams wants QB Vince Young in the lineup to try and jump start the 0-6 Titans. This could be the beginning of the end for head coach Jeff Fisher in Tennessee. The Jaguars and the UNDER.

Carolina Panthers at Arizona Cardinals (-10)
Over/Under 42

There could be another quarterback change as Jake Delhomme could be benched for either Matt Moore or A.J Feeley. Look for Carolina to rally around whoever gets the start and cover the spread. The Panthers and the UNDER.

New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles (-3)
Over/Under 44.5

The Giants are looking to avoid a third straight loss, while the Eagles are looking for a share of first place in the NFC East. This could be a wild one with big plays and a lot of points. The Eagles and the OVER.

Monday, Nov. 2

Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints (-10.5)
Over/Under 54

This one should be a track meet but I do not think the Falcons have the proper shoes to keep up. The big question is can they at least keep it close. The Falcons and the OVER.

There are some big divisional games that could go a long way toward helping to decide the final outcome in January. Plays of the week are the Packers -3 and the over in the Giants-Eagles game.
